get one for everyone in the family
i much prefer this to flossing with my fingers. its faster, wastes much less floss, its easier to reach molars and while i expected some issues with it holding tension, i give it a quick rinse before winding / re-tensioning (3-4 times per session) and it actually works pretty well. and i'm flossing more often now.

Works great.
Just what I was looking for. Floss comes a bit loose, but that's actually how it's supposed to be. Floss shouldn't be tight. But all you have to do if you want to tighten it is give it a little click turn and it tightens right up.

Bad Floss
Great idea, but the floss provided is crap. It constantly snaps. Not worth the money.

Starting to use handy flossing tool.
The most important reason to use floss devices like this is to keep fingers out of the mouth. Diseases may be given an advantage by touching fingers to eyes, nose, and mouth. This is important when traveling; especially when camping and back packing when cleaning my be minimal due to available water. When I opened the package and checked it out I removed the safety (?) cover and opened it up. It does not seem as durable as one of a different brand that I can no longer find for sale. I need to replace the older one because the spools of floss are no longer available. The older one does not have a clicker to advance the cord. It is purely manual: pull the floss off a button where it is wrapped, pull more floss from the spool in the body, wrap floss around the button and over the ends, pull it taunt, wrap the previously used floss around the button a few times, trim excess length of used floss. In use the floss stays taunt. This new one is faster to change a length of floss. Just click a few times, In use the floss looses tauntness so click again. The used floss is pulled into the chamber in the handle.Time will tell how this new one holds up. I have been using it a few times a day for a few days. It is fine so far.I have not found spools of floss for it yet. It appears a manual job to unwind the used floss that is rolled up in the handle. Maybe this will turn out to be another device intended to dispose instead of reuse.

A Brilliant Flossing Idea
I've tried just about every single flossing product on the market to include the very high end vibrating flossers from name brands. The problem with the high-end flossers was that they required charging as well as expensive refills. The problem with all the other low end mechanical flossers I tried was that they were not ergonomic, or the floss was round and did not fit between my tight teeth. When I saw this, I thought there could definitely be some potential based on the fact that it uses a flat floss. At first, it's a little awkward to use, as you have to get a feel for advancing the floss, as well as tightening it. But once you've used it for a little while, you can move quite a bit faster. Using this is a constant process of flossing, advancing floss, and then tightening the floss on the reel.It doesn't take as long as it might sound, but it definitely takes getting used to.So what's good about it? The floss is flat, which helps with access and comfort, and the refills are very inexpensive and go a very long way. Additionally, this is much more small and compact and can easily be thrown into a travel hygiene kit. The ergonomics are great for getting even back into wisdom teeth once you get a feel for it.There are some downsides. For starters, it's necessary to wash away the gunk from your teeth that's on the floss, in order to advance it into the waste spool. Second and biggest downside to this is that sometimes I've had the floss break due to my teeth being tight and somewhat sharp. As a result, it's necessary to unwind or cut the thread on the spool, and then rethread it. Definitely the most annoying aspect of this, maybe something that can be solved with slightly stronger floss. The ergonomics of advancing and tightening the spool aren't the best, but you do get used to it.Overall, for the few pitfalls. This has it is, by far, my favorite fosser, that I've tried...out of many. I'm just shocked that I'm the first one to review this, as I think this is a gem of a product .

Meh.
Shape and concept are great. Execution is meh. Advancing the floss is super tough some times as it gets stuck and you have to flip level to release the tension. Also, it's be great if there were an easier way to refill the floss.

Handy for children
I help my 6 year old floss their back teeth per dentist instruction and I find the picks to be easiest, but I don't like the idea of throwing away all of the plastic so this was a good option as an alternative. It is a LITTLE big for her mouth, so I wouldn't try using it on a child smaller than 6 but we make it work. It's easier than using floss itself without all the plastic waste.

well made, really saves floss, very good for childs as well
Well made and well finished product, it doesn't feel cheap. It really saves a lot of floss while allowing to use a clean segment for each tooth space. I use it for my child, it's fantastic.
