Penguin, The: The Complete First Season (DVD)

Pretty good series. Don't let the name fool you. Other than some references to Gotham type places it is a standalone mobster series with a lot of twists and back stabbing. Don't expect to see batman or the traditional Penquin. You don't have to have seen the latest Batman movie to understand what's going on. It is well written and has some good acting in it. I'm not a big Batman fan but I enjoyed this.

Great setting and special effects. Solid acting. No nudity and gore but violence and language. Lots of twists and turns. Plenty of extras with an extra for each episode as well. Really captures the horror of the prison. Consistent story that meshes with the last movie. Just great.

So I enjoy the dvd, it works fine. Good condition and quality. But every time I put in the dvd, I have to adjust audio settings. The automatic English setting plays the score clearly but dialogue doesn't come through. I have to adjust the English setting and then it works. A bit inconvenient, but not horrible, prompted me to check out other languages on the disc. On the fun side, I've now watched The Penguin in Italian, so that was fun.

Heard good things so I ordered it. Was pleased to see the dvd version still came with a slipcover on it. Very excited to watch!

One of the best tv shows of 2024. Colin Farrel’s performance is worth the watch alone. Cast,writing,production,soundtrack are all top notch. If you are wanting more of the Matt Reeves Batverse this is a good interlude before the next Batman movie. Bottom line it’s a great crime mafia show set in Gotham after the events of The Batman 2022 movie.

This is a EXCELLENT SERIES! The story and cast is absolutely amazing!

The show was good. But it's only eight episodes long and the entire season feels like it's a good start to a great season. The season just felt really off because it's so unsatisfying it's like you just meet the characters and get their background and then it's the end of the season. It doesn't build anything really.
