The Cloud, a truly delightful children's book
I loved The Cloud by Hannah Cumming, and so did my little grand-daughter. It can be enjoyed on so many different levels... the drawings are a delight and completely endearing, and the story has the repetitive element that children respond to with gusto. Deceptively simple the story reveals a more profound meaning that tugs at your heart-strings. The message is clear and morally sound: as in all good fairy tales, a warm and generous heart will win through in the end.I highly recommend this book.

A message everyone can relate to.
This story about a girl starting school is something every child can relate to. A thoughtfully told and engaging story with lovely illustrations and an underlying message.

This is really skilful, useful, children's literature
Really realistic child's experience of uncomfortable feelings. Very helpful tool to talk about different feelings and how to express them. It introduces the subject of feeling differently and could be very re-assuring. This is really skilful, useful, children's literature with great illustrations.

A simple story with a big message
A young girl attends art class, but is isolated from her peers and has a dark cloud hovering above her. One child in the group decides she wants to reach out and befriend the girl. It takes time....but soon the little dark cloud diminishes. The story is simple, yet the book offers opportunities to consider social situations, discuss feelings, talk about friendships and think about the importance of reaching out to others. The simplicity of the story can appeal to younger children, while it's core message can enhance the emotional learning of young school go-ers and older children. from me and see a short video review here: http://missusbspicturebookreviews.blogspot.ie/2015/06/the-cloud-sweet-book-about-reaching-out.html

Gem
This good is a gem and I hope it is up for one of the prizes? The artwork is a delight and suits the story really well. The story itself is abotu a child who does not fit in and the attempts, eventually successful, by her would-be playmate not so much as to get her to fit in but to change the play in way that includes her. It is all done with a gentle humour. My guess it would appeal to playgroup age children, toddlers and beginning readers of all ages.

Beautiful book.
This book is a touching story about a child who has a dark cloud over their head. It would make a lovely present for a young child and the illustrations are beautifully done.
