I sew purses and bags with my name label attached. Therefore I want all my creations to look fantastic...professional, not that "loving hands at home" look that says "lacking in quality and skill". By Annie's Soft and Stable is my GO TO for all my bags. It springs back when crushed (a necessity when turning almost finished bags right side out), it makes the bag/purse stand up by itself, it doesn't crease, it sews and irons beautifully and when compared to the Pellon foam product it isn't as lofty (who wants a fat bag?). I have purchased smaller amounts from Annie in the past, but after running out and having to sub Pellon's foam at the last minute I knew I wanted S & S on hand all the time, so I bought the big amount.Here are photos of a few of the bags made with Soft and Stable by Annie. I worked with this stabilizer/batting for a couple of projects (different sized bags). It was very easy to cut the pieces to size, either with scissors or rotary cutters. Sewing was no problem either, though this product isn’t fusible. I used little strips of fusible webbing to adhere it to the fabric, but it has a soft texture that helps it stay put without lots of adhesive. I would definitely recommend it for projects that need a bit more structure. Even though this stabilizer helped the bags be more "rigid", it also has enough give so that the bags can be filled up without issues. It looks smooth under the fabric and is easily quilted through.

This is the most cost effective way of buying soft and stable. Are used it all of the time in my bags and pouches.

I'm making a large travel satchel for my artist granddaughter -- it has to be sturdy with lots of pockets inside and out, able to carry her paints, sketchbooks, brushes, water container, cash, passport, tickets, personal care items, and a change of clothes. Tried Peltex but it was stiff and awkward. This is perfect, gives body, remains flexible, is astonishingly easy to sew, and is machine wash, tumble dry. Couldn't ask for more

I used Soft and Stable to make a custom cover for my sewing machine. I received the product I ordered in a timely manner, it was well packaged, fresh and clean. It did the job and was perfect for the project; however, I don't look forward to sewing with it again any time soon! I found it to be messy to work with and I had to clean my machine MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH more often than if I'd been working with regular quilt batting. I'd buy it again (in another few years, LOL) if another project called for it.

This is a lightweight interfacing that really helps sewing multiple layers together without breaking needles. I make a lot of different purses and large totes, and this has made my job so much easier. It also has the added benefit of being so lightweight that it does not add to the weight of the product that canvas or some heavy interfacing does. It does produce a slightly puffier quilted surface than regular interfacing, and the thread does need to be reinforced at the beginning and end of the stitch line due to the springy nature of the Soft and Stable.It is pricey, but when you go to all the trouble to make beautiful and complex products, it is well worth the cost.

I love this product! It is perfect for sewing purses, backpacks, and messenger bags. It provides the necessary strength (yet softness) needed to give a bag the ability to stand by itself. I have used it many times. I also recommend that you look at the ByAnnie web site which has a multitude of great patterns and instructions.
