Does the job (but put enough in)
Had a stubborn fungus gnat problem with my office plant (for months on end) and this finally fixed it. I started with the sticky pads, which got hundreds, but there were still a stubborn contingent that remained. I used this soil topper in tandem with some of the sticky pads, and I think this is what has finally worked.A few notes:* Make sure you use enough. I put a thin layer in, and it didn't work. I only got proper results when I put maybe 2-3 cm in (you need more than you think).* I made the mistake of watering from the top (over the soil topper) rather than the bottom. Don't do this -- it did damage the plant a bit and I lost some of the lower leaves.

Didn't go far
I bought two bags of this. Works out expensive as it didn't go far. I have lots of house plants. Ended up having to buy a 5l tub from another seller. Hope it works to keep my fungus gnats away. Easy to use. I've watered plant from water in the tray so the gravel stays dry.

This stuff works
Fungus gnats are quite pathetic as far as flies go, they can’t even really fly that well. So it’s a bit of an embarrassment that they managed to take over so many of my houseplants. Vastly irritating, very proficient at laying eggs (200 a pop, apparently, outrageous!).Tried the yellow sticky things, spray and pesticide that claimed to kill them and the eggs. No luck, they kept coming. It was like Helms Deep. What can men do against such reckless hate, indeed. After weeks was on the verge of throwing the plants out. Tried this as a Hail Mary - worked within a couple of days. You need to add a generous layer, probably more than it says on the back, and just bear in mind you’ll need to water from the bottom or get one of those pépettes to make sure the plant is getting something. But since using this I haven’t seen any more of these jokers, and it’s removed their ability to lay eggs in the soil.Presumably there’s some sort of fungus gnat burial ground under the topping now, which I’m not super excited to reveal. But I actually don’t mind the aesthetic of this stuff at all so will likely leave it and just pretend it’s not there.

Worked initially
Worked really well for first couple of weeks then nats came back with a vengeance so had to purchase another product. This came on the back of repotting a money plant. Doesn’t smell and easy to apply though, out plenty on the top for best effect.

It did the trick
I recently repotted my rubber plant that I'd had for years! After a few days, I noticed these little flies around in the house everywhere and was horrified to find out that the new indoor earth I had used for repotting must have been infested with these flies. I first left the plant in the porch thinking that after a couple of weeks, they would die off as it was quite cold in there, but they were thriving! Then, I bought some of those sticky traps, but they only seemed catch a couple. I was thinking of getting rid of my rubber plant, but really didn't want to, so I went to a garden centre for advice and they said to try a layer of grit. I got home and looked to see what Amazon had, and as a last resort, bought this plant topper. I am extremely happy to say, this did the trick and there are no more of these pesky little flies around anymore. Thumbs up.

Doesn’t work
I bought a number of bags to help with a fungus gnat infestation, which it seemed to help for a couple of weeks. However, the topper is now crawling with fungus gnats, sticky traps are full within a day and I’m close to just throwing away the plants and replacing with artificial

This Works!
Having been plagued by fungus gnats for months following an indoor plant re potting I decided to try a soil topper as a last resort. Water in remedies had not been effective and although the yellow stickies were successful in catching some of the little blighters they were still breeding.24/10 at 4 pm applied as directed.24/10 at 7 pm just 2 visible in the room - I think these flew up whilst I was applying the treatment.25/10 at 9 am - NOTHING. Not one. This plant topper does exactly what is says on the pack. I thought it seemed a little expensive but it works! Only one of my plants was affected - but seriously considering getting some more and using on all my other indoor plants as a preventative measure.
