These particular magnets are diametrically magnetized, i.e. the north and south faces are on the circumference and not on the flat faces, meaning that if you stick one face of the magnet to the end of a shaft, then magnetic sensor integrated circuits (ICs) can identify the rotation angle.As a result, this is ideal for position control/feedback and angle measurement, and so on.
