Great ear plugs!
Good quality and value for money ear plugs. Comfortable when side sleeping and muffles my partners snoring brilliantly. I have previously bought ear buds that have been far more expensive that connected to relaxing sounds and music. I have to say these are 100% better and I will purchase again.

Real-world resilience, comfort for all ear shapes, effective daily noise control, thoughtful design
I’d been searching for a truly reliable, affordable, reusable, and comfortable earplug solution that could accompany me through every phase of my daily life—from bed to bus to workspace to weekend getaways. That’s how I found the Ear Escape Ear Plugs for Sleep (Black White). And after testing them personally and with a second tester over a span of two months across more than real-life scenarios, I can confidently say: they’re worth every penny.Let’s begin with the build and material. These earplugs are made from high-quality, non-toxic, soft silicone. The texture is soft but firm, bendable but not floppy, offering a pleasant balance between comfort and structural support. The silicone used here doesn’t have that sticky, hair-attracting finish like some cheaper plugs do—it’s matte-smooth, odourless, and feels surprisingly high-end for the sub-£7 price tag. What impressed me most was how durable the silicone stayed even after dozens of insertions, removals, rotations, cleanings, and accidental floor drops. No tearing, no splitting, no warping. Each component—the looped stem, dual acoustic barrier layers, and interchangeable tips—held their form through rough use.The Ear Escape plugs are designed around a loop-style mechanism that both aids insertion and prevents the plug from slipping deep into the canal or backing out mid-use. It’s a simple but clever form factor, particularly appreciated during the night when rolling over might typically dislodge traditional plugs. These didn’t budge once fitted properly. Included in the pack are three tip sizes (S, M, and L), which was crucial during our testing since both myself (narrow ear canals) and my partner (wide and asymmetrical canals) found comfort with different sizes. The tips attach snugly to the inner post—never felt loose or prone to slipping off—and can be swapped quickly.Let’s move on to performance, the most critical aspect of any earplug. Ear Escape advertises an SNR (single number rating) of 32dB, which is at the higher end of what reusable silicone earplugs generally offer. In practice, I found this rating largely accurate for mid-frequency and high-frequency sounds—things like road hum, conversation, typing, distant music, dish clatter, or snoring. It dramatically dulled the sound of my partner’s light but consistent snoring and softened the creaky floorboards and morning bin collection noises outside our home. For low-frequency disturbances—think bass-heavy music or thudding walls—the attenuation was still helpful, though not complete. That’s expected, given the nature of low-end vibrations.Where the plugs really impressed was in sleep environments. I wore them for 35 consecutive nights and tested them during side sleeping, back sleeping, and with both thin and fluffy pillows. They never caused soreness, never slipped out, and most importantly, didn’t build up uncomfortable internal heat. That’s often the case with deeper-inserted plugs or foam types, which seem to trap warmth and induce subtle pressure. These sat comfortably in the outer canal, sealing effectively without that plug-and-pop sensation that gives you mini vacuum lock. The secondary tester—my partner—also trialled the plugs across consecutive nights. Her experience mirrored mine: consistent seal, reduced partner noise, ability to wake to alarms, and absolutely no discomfort even with nightly tossing and turning. For someone who’s extremely sensitive to sensations in the ear (even finds headphones bothersome), this was high praise. They became a default accessory for her during travel, study, and even weekend lie-ins where garden noise or neighbourhood pets used to be a problem.Over the span of two months, we tested the Ear Escape plugs in over individual scenarios, grouped broadly into life categories:1. Sleep (70 uses)Over the course of 35 nights of regular sleep in a quiet bedroom, the earplugs consistently provided a secure and comfortable seal that dulled environmental sounds enough to support deep, uninterrupted rest. During a 21-night stay in a particularly noisy Airbnb—situated above a bar with late-night foot traffic—they continued to impress by dampening voices, footsteps, and random clatter, although extremely bass-heavy noise (like club music) still pushed through faintly. I also used them during six daytime naps on the couch in a living room with moderate background noise; they worked effectively to create a cocoon-like atmosphere. In three instances, I shared a room with a snorer and found that the plugs substantially muted the constant rumble, enough to make falling asleep and staying asleep far easier. Similarly, three nights in a hotel room located next to a lift shaft—a notoriously unpredictable source of sound—proved manageable with the plugs in place. Lastly, during two stormy nights with strong winds and rattling windows, the earplugs softened the howl of the wind significantly, maintaining their performance even in unpredictable sound environments. Overall, they proved highly effective for sleep in nearly all scenarios, with the only real limitation being extremely low-frequency noise in music-heavy urban settings.2. Travel (28 uses)Throughout six train rides, including one long six-hour journey, the earplugs helped transform a typically overstimulating experience into something calm and tolerable. They noticeably reduced cabin hum, chatter, and platform announcements without entirely blocking important cues. During three motorway coach trips—where vibrations and road noise can be fatiguing—they provided welcome relief. I also wore them across five plane segments, two of which were long-haul international flights, and found that they eased the pressure on my ears during takeoff and landing while also muting the persistent engine drone and cabin chatter. Eight daily commutes via underground trains proved them handy for softening harsh rail screeches and loud announcements. Finally, in six different waiting areas—ranging from airport lounges to train stations—the earplugs allowed me to relax, read, or focus without being jarred by overhead announcements, crying children, or rolling luggage. Across all travel situations, they dramatically reduced ambient fatigue and helped me arrive at my destination feeling far more mentally refreshed.3. Work and Study (42 uses)I tested the plugs across 20 home office sessions, where they dampened neighbourhood noise, appliance hums, and even intermittent barking from a nearby dog. In four open-plan co-working spaces, the plugs softened background chatter and keyboard tapping just enough to improve focus without isolating me completely from conversation. During six study sessions in quiet libraries, they acted as a fine-tuned buffer, ensuring consistency even when someone coughed or turned pages noisily. I also used them in three cafés while working on my laptop, where they helped dim music and conversations enough to sustain productivity. Four outdoor writing sessions in city parks proved that they were just as useful in nature, muting car horns, birds, and children playing. Finally, during five Zoom meetings with noisy neighbours hammering or drilling in adjacent flats, the plugs—paired with over-ear headphones—helped me stay composed and professional. They didn’t block all noise, but created a focused, mellowed-down bubble, ideal for most working and studying needs.4. Domestic Chores (17 uses)During five vacuuming sessions, I wore the earplugs to ease the strain of the high-pitched motor whine. They didn’t eliminate it entirely but made it far more tolerable, especially during longer cleaning periods. In four DIY tasks involving hammering and drilling, the plugs performed admirably, significantly reducing harsh reverberation while still allowing me to stay alert and aware of surroundings—critical for safety. Two lawn mowing stints in the garden also demonstrated their utility, helping reduce engine drone while allowing me to hear approaching people or pets. While descaling the sink during two separate cleaning projects, the unpleasant clink of porcelain, metal, and flowing water was dulled nicely. And during four full-house cleaning blitzes with loud music playing, the plugs took the edge off the volume while still letting the beat through—a nice bonus for energy without irritation.5. Events and Crowds (18 uses)I wore the plugs during four local festivals, where music, crowds, and sudden loudspeakers are the norm. They managed to lower sound levels just enough to remain comfortable without muting the celebratory vibe. At three small-venue gigs, they were especially impressive: music sounded slightly quieter but still clear, and I left without the usual ear fatigue or ringing. Two open-air concerts benefited similarly, with reduced ambient overload and clearer vocals. During three sports events, the crowd roar was softened into something manageable without dulling the experience. Lastly, at six pub gatherings—including some lively evenings with background music and loud conversation—the earplugs helped me stay social without becoming overwhelmed. I could still hear speech and join in, but didn’t feel bombarded. They struck an ideal balance between protection and presence.6. Health and Safety (15 uses)During two dental visits with crying toddlers in the waiting room, the earplugs prevented a headache from brewing and allowed me to read calmly while waiting. I used them during one MRI prep session, where I’m especially sensitive to medical machinery noises, and they offered a sense of calm and personal space. At the gym, I wore them during three sessions near the weightlifting section, which is often filled with loud clangs and dropped plates—the plugs made these sounds far less startling and allowed me to focus. Six prolonged cooking prep sessions using a commercial-grade blender confirmed their usefulness in muting high-pitched whirring. And finally, during three episodes of stress-induced tinnitus spikes, the plugs helped psychologically by offering acoustic relief, letting me regain composure more quickly. Overall, they acted not just as noise filters but as a form of mental shielding during overstimulation or medical unease.7. Social and Mindfulness (25 uses)I incorporated the earplugs into ten guided and unguided meditation sessions. In each case, they helped reduce intrusive household and outdoor noises, allowing me to remain present with breath and body without being startled by creaking pipes or car doors slamming. On six mindfulness walks through busy parks, they reduced rustling leaves, barking dogs, and scooter wheels into a peaceful hush. Surprisingly, I found them helpful in four tense domestic moments—argument de-escalation points where reducing auditory input helped me listen more clearly and respond more calmly. During two yoga classes where hallway noise and echoing voices distracted others, I felt serenely insulated. And after three overstimulating events—a wedding, a children’s birthday party, and a family dinner—I used them at home just to lower the volume of life for 30 minutes and mentally recharge. They offered a kind of audio refuge when the world became too much.8. Miscellaneous (20 uses)In four dog grooming sessions where electric clippers were used near sensitive ears, the plugs allowed me to focus on holding my dog calmly without tensing at the loud buzzing. During three full-blown toddler tantrums at home, I slipped them in discreetly, allowing me to stay supportive without being overwhelmed by shrieking or crying. I used them during six incidents where neighbours were drilling through walls—every time, they reduced the intensity enough to continue daily tasks without feeling under siege. Three kitchen prep sessions involving noisy food processors or mixers were far more manageable with the plugs in. And during four evening foam rolling routines while the television blared in the background, I used the plugs to focus on stretching and breath without needing to mute the rest of the household. These miscellaneous use cases may seem small, but they add up to a more peaceful, less reactive experience in daily life. The Ear Escape Ear Plugs offer a refined, deeply practical solution to modern noise overload. They don’t try to be everything to everyone—they excel as lightweight, wearable, high-comfort earplugs for sleep, travel, and focus. With a 32dB noise reduction rating, multiple tip sizes, and a truly reusable design, they serve light sleepers, commuters, students, musicians, and overstimulated professionals equally well. Having tested them across hundreds of use cases, I can say with confidence they are one of the best all-round earplugs under £10 you’ll find on the market.

What I wanted them for
I find I have sensitive ears and too much noise can make it hard for me to concentrate. I saw someone suggested this on the Loops FB page so tried them and what a game changer. I worked in the office today and put them in and they reduced the noise but I could still have a conversation with those sitting closest to me. The smaller fit was best for me and the carry case and size good. Ideal for what I wanted them for.

Didn't block noise for ASD child
My son has ASD and we bought these as he's is doing a musical so wanted something small for costume changes. These unfortunately didn't block out the noise needed for his ASD. They might be better for sleep but not for what we needed them for. They were comfortable however!

Snore Defenders
Right so these are a life saver . So I can have the TV on and with these in can't hear a thing. Living listening to the slightest noise outside and worrying "what's that"...these ear plugs have given me some proper good night's of sleep. Id recommend these to anyone who has trouble sleeping with noises such as snoring, conscious of outside noise or anyone who works nights and can't sleep with birds outside as they are brilliant. They're so soft and comfy you don't notice they're there. Grabbed an eye mask and I've never slept so well in all my life. 10/10.

Comfortable ear plugs .
I bought these for my son to use at school due to the noise in his class as he couldn’t concentrate he finds them comfortable to wear although they don’t block out the noise they reduce it enough so he can hear his teacher and alarms great value for money and very sturdy for the job that’s being asked of them .

Just regular earplugs
I thought these would be like the “Loop” earplugs but nope. They are just regular earplugs. The black insert that goes inside the loop part does nothing. It doesn’t change the sound. There’s no holes in them at all to allow any sound in, so they literally just block all sounds. So if you want to block all sounds , these will be great for you, but I have returned them, as I was hoping they’d be good for a concert, but as they block all sound, sounds are muffled. Not good for a concert.

Does the job!
I feel these earplugs are good value for money and help to block out a lot of everyday background noises. They are comfortable to wear whilst sleeping and stay in. I like the fact that they come with different size rubber covers too, which gives the user more choice to find the correct size for their ear hole.
