I have purchased many products from Weathertech, including several hood protectors. They attach from the underneath, and have a 3/4" space between the protector and the hood, with a "lip" to deflect air/bugs/debris. This product is a terrible design. It tapes directly onto the hood with a 5" width. It only protects the part of the hood that it actually covers. I say "protect". The tape attaches to the hood all around the edges with an occasional break of 1". These openings will allow water, dirt, dust, and road salt to enter, with NO WAY to get underneath it to clean the debris out or wash/wax the hood. In a year or two, this will ruin the paint and likely rust the hood. This is a very poor design. No, not putting this on my new car. In the next few years, the reviews will start popping up saying my hood is now all rusted. WeatherTech is an awesome product, but they dropped the ball on this one. This is being returned, so I can find another manufacturer with a product that does it's job correctly.
