Nikwax TX. Direct Wash In Waterproofer

Great product that I used to re waterproof my clothes. I bought both nikwax products (this and tech wash) and they worked wellI’ve bought this a couple of times before and find it very useful to use when I re waterproof my clothes. So to save money I opted for the industrial size! The smaller ones only do 1-2 washes. I use this alongside the wash in tech wash product with the green lid.Very easy to use and seemed to re waterproof my ski kit well

Originally I used to buy the smaller bottle of this, but then eventually started buying the 5 litre tubs since they're more cost effective.Have been using this product for about the last 10 years and will buy again.Mainly used on skiing gear - coats, salopettes, gloves, etc.Couple of hints:- Shake the bottle well before using.- Dont put it on a fast spin, otherwise you will get small gooey balls attached to your clothing which are difficult to get off, and also means that you havent waterproofed your clothing item correctly.- (I have never put the clothing into a dryer/heater afterwards, so don't know what effect that would have. I always allow mine to dry naturally on a coat hanger with zips open to allow better circulation - then eventually turn it inside out to ensure its fully dry).

Lasts for ages, just what I require

We don't have a tumble dryer. This waterproofer from NikWax works without the need for additional heat. It works best if you warm the jacket you have treated, a heated airing rail or a low iron does the job. You do need to keep re-proofing regularly, how often depends on how much you use the item. The parts of the jackets that get lots of use, eg cuff straps and around zips are the first to show signs that re-proofing is needed again as the water stops beading on the surface. My jacket is 5 years old now and still keeps the water out (mostly) I re-proof about 3 times a year, I use the NikWax Tech Wash before the Re-proofer every time. I dread to think what all this is doing to the environment but I hope it is better than throwing out jackets because they leak. In years gone by a waterproof jacket lasted 15 years with hardly any treatment but modern waterproofs seem to need regular treatment to keep you dry.

I've used Nikwax TX.Direct Wash-In (together with Nikwax Tech Wash) for waterproof outdoors jackets and trousers for years and been very happy with it. It's easy to use (just run the clothes in the washing machine - no need to tumble dry afterwards) and works well, making sure that rain beads and runs off the surface of the waterproofs. The 5 litre bottle from Amazon is extremely good value.

i love there products have used for years lots of the others too.this is great as the larger bottle is so much cheaperi use on all of our coats and water proof my son's push chair stuff as well.its so simple to use and quick its less messy than the spray and last longer,the spray i find only handy for boots

Amazing stuff!We use it since years and years! As an outdoor and environmentally conscious family we aim to look after our clothes as good as possible.I can highly recommend to gather some more clothes together (like 2 machine loads plus) let the machine run on the highest temperature with some kitchen towels in - or whatever needs sterilisation. But without detergent. It makes sure the machine doesn’t have a huge load of older detergent in it that could damage the outcome. Wash the clothes with the tech wash. And than straight away with the water proofer, no need to take them out of the machine and get everything wet.We use the proofer for all our clothes about every half year. And in between when there were some overuse symptoms of the clothes.
