Great spelling approach for "visual thinkers"
My daughter is in Year 1. "Look, cover and write" doesn't work for her at all; she also reverses letters and digits (we bought Lidia's "Which Way?" book too). Whilst she enjoys school work, she's not keen on practising spelling at home - however, she loved this book as soon as she saw it and has been asking to use it every day! She's very visual and creative and she likes the cartoons and stories used to illustrate the words. The additional activities suggested, such as tracing words in flour, have also been a big hit. We haven't been using the book long enough to see if it will help with her weekly spellings, but I am very pleased to have found an approach to spelling that makes sense to my daughter, and that she is enthusiastic about.Update: my daughter twice got full marks on her spelling tests last term- on both occasions, the words tested were covered in the book and we used the mnemonics alongside other methods suggested in the book. Felt effortless and fun!

Brilliant! buy it now!
opened the book tricky spellings in cartons and I said to my daughter (7) who is dyslexic, how do you spell what...wot...we then read the first page together...her face was a picture...total joy and realisation w-hat...t-hat...we actually moved on to when- on the second page. After no more than 5mins...She got it totally, just a different way of showing it ....it clicked for her. To see my daughters face light up, she got it, totally got it...finally we have found a method that might just work for our child and she is for the first time excited to be practising spellings!!

Colourful, fun way to learn some harder spellings
Excellent book. Bought for my 2e 8 year old in Year 4 who has a reading age of 13 but is still struggling with Year 2 spellings. Has helped him improve his spelling while in lockdown. Pictures are bright and appealing and some of the little ways to learn the spellings are quite funny, which makes them easier to remember.Great book.

Visual Spellings
This is a fantastic book that uses an alternative way of remembering spellings. If your child is having problems remembering spellings and likes daft cartoons, this is the book to buy.The section of Homophones (words that look like each other) is brilliant. My daughter can now spell Angel (the cat’s name) rather than angle, she imagines an angel with gelled hair (anGEL). It is also the only book I have found with a visual story to help with -ould (would, could and should).

Didn’t get a lot out of it
Not overly impressed. Some tricks have been over complicated that it would be easier just to memorise the spelling. We bought a CD of tricky word songs and found it much more beneficial
