Accurate and easy to read
Bought this to accompany our humidifier and have a better idea of the humidity levels in our bedroom to improve sleep. It works great. We had another brand that we used in a different part of our house, so I set them both up together to test if there was any difference. They both reported the exact same temp and humidity, so it made me feel confident that it is accurate. I like that the numbers are large and easy to read--and that the temp is a different size so you can easily glance at it and not confuse the two numbers. There is no backlight, so there's nothing to glow and keep you awake in a dark room--another plus!

good to have
This is a very good item to have in your house.. can put things into perspective as far as the humidity amounts you have been accustomed to and will help you accurately gauge. My wife was right about me always keeping it humid (shrugs, lol)

easy to read
I use it mainly to monitor the humidity in my house.

Accurate, simple, but a little hard to see in bright light.
This is doing a great job for me. It's accurate (I gauged it against another digital stand-alone unit, the digital readout on my Honeywell humidifier, and an old analog dial gauge), and it doesn't take up a lot of space. I've been using it non-stop for months now, and the battery is still going strong. The only thing I would improve on this item is the visibility. If it's under incandescent light, or 'side-lit' with my home's lighting, I can't see the LCD readout. So, that's limiting its placement for me. However, in bright light, it's easy to read (as in the attached photo). So, the addition of a 'tap top to see readout' like my other backlit unit would be greatly appreciated. Overall, it's not too large, not too small, wipes down easily, is stable on its base, and has good battery life. I'm happy with this item

Humidistat is not as accurate as the competitor
This looks just like the competitor and is cheaper; so I fell for it and bought two. I use these things through out the house to maintain a humidity level at or above 43%. There is empirical data that indicates that the cold and flue viruses physically cannot reproduce in your mucous membranes when the ambient humidity is at or above 43%. My experience is that this is true as I have not had such an infection since I started being consistent(compulsive) about maintaining that level in my house over 6 years ago. Yes I know that, that is only one data point but I am not claiming that it proves any thing empirically; it only describes my experience.I have been using the competitors unit for years and they are "accurate" to with in 1% humidity across the board and they are in agreement at the same level with with the humidistats in my humidifiers which I believe are more accurate than these units are designed to be.All of these units will eventual fail. They are not scientific instruments. I use them in five different zones in the house and because they are in the vicinity of the 4 humidifiers that I run in the house during the winter time, when one fails it is obvious and easily tested. On the average the slightly more expensive competitors units are consistently more accurate. and these that I am reviewing are off by about 2% of relative humidity(RH). So I cannot "trust" them to let me know when the RH has dropped below 43%. Spend the extra 2 bucks. And buy the competitor's units. All of the units agree on temperature, but the temperature sensors are much simpler than the humidity sensors.

Works like it should
We’ve bought a few of these and they are nice to have.I seem to give them to my adult children and then I don’t have one for our own house. In the winter our house gets dry and it’s nice to have a gauge that tells us exactly how dry it is so we can add moisture. Works really well and we’ve had them for quite a few years and haven’t had to change the batteries.

Good to have in the winter
This monitor is good to have when the outdoor temperature dips below the freezing mark, with the air getting very cold and dry, which is followed by similar low humidity inside the home. I use it as a gauge for putting my humidifier into action, to keep the air comfortable and to prevent skin from getting painfully dry and cracked.
