This is the smaller version of the very popular Nalgene 32 oz. Wide-Mouth bottle. This is half the capacity of that bottle. It has the same durability and the same leak-proof qualities of the larger bottle.So, why would you want a smaller bottle? Because there are times when carrying around a 32 ounce bottle is impractical. A small bottle will easily fit in a backpack. It takes up less space in portable cooler. This is the perfect size for a kid's lunch box. The truth is, unless you are going some place where water or drinks are not within easy access, you do not need to carry a 32 ounce bottle. For hiking yes, but office and lunch uses, you do not.Nalgene bottles come in wide mouths and narrow mouths. It is easier to drink from the narrow mouth. A child will have an easier time drinking from the smaller mouth and the chances of spilling the drink is lessened. A smaller mouth, theoretically, also makes the bottle more leak-proof than it already is. I say theoretical because I have never had a Nalgene bottle leak. However, the narrow mouth will be harder to clean. You have to be careful to clean out the bottle after every use. Be sure to empty the bottle, rinse it well with clean water, turn it upside down, and make sure it dries completely. You do not want mold, mildew, and bio-film growing on the inside. It will be impossible to clean it out. You can try bleach. I have thrown out a narrow mouth bottle because mold grew on the inside. I neglected to clean it after use. It was a dark, blue bottle. If you have to have a narrow mouth, get the clear version. You need to be able to see the inside and check it for mold. I bought this in the wide-mouth to avoid the hassle. I only buy the clear bottles now.Highly recommended. You really cannot go wrong with the Nalgene bottles. They are totally leak-proof. Their durability is second to none. The wide mouth makes it easy to clean the inside of the bottle.

After a bit of consideration between this little 16 Oz bottle and one of the more substantial sizes, I settled on the smaller one and I'm glad I did. It fits in my car drink holder and it's generally easy to carry. So while a larger one might be better suited for outdoor use when more water is the main concern, this small bottle is easier for your typical day to day use. The bottle is rugged, the blue is a nice color and the wide mouth is relatively easy to clean, though I wish it was just a tad wider to make washing just a little easier with my big hands.While the 16 oz size is excellent at home, or at your desk at work - its definitely not as versatile as a larger size, but just a bit more convenient to carry around. Refilling this little bottle at home or work isn't an issue, there's always fresh cold water close by. However, if this is your primary bottle, you might want the larger size. You definitely need something some substantial if you are going to be outdoors for awhile.

I didn't think I could ever love a water bottle, but I love this one. Most water bottles are either too big or prone to leaks. I try to keep a glass of water handy around the house, but with 2 small kids, it's hard to do that and keep it where they won't accidentally spill it. This bottle never leaks and I don't feel like I'm lugging a canteen around with me. It's also perfect for quick trips to the park or just running errands as it fits in the cup holder of either my car or the kid's stroller. I even made tea directly in the bottle while I was sick a few weeks ago. I just heated the water up in the microwave, poured it into the bottle with a tea bag and screwed the cap on. The bottle never got too warm to hold and the tea stayed warm longer than if it had been in a mug. On top of all that, if it gets knocked over, played with or tossed around, I don't have to worry about this bottle leaking.EDIT: I've had this bottle for a little over 2 months now. A couple of weeks ago I was holding my son and he was holding this bottle. The bottle was about a third full of water and the cap was screwed on. He dropped it from a height of about 4 feet onto hardwood floor and the bottom of the bottle split open. I called Nalgene and they sent out a replacement no problem. Because of how much I love this bottle and how helpful Nalgene was, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of their bottles, but I was surprised it broke from such a short fall.Since I've had this bottle, I've discovered two things about this size bottle that makes me like it even more. For starters, since it hold just a hair over 16 ounces, I can easily use it with single serve drink packets. Secondly, because it's about the same diameter as a coke can, this bottle fits perfectly in a can koozie. This is great since the bottle can tend to sweat a lot when I put iced drinks in it.

Ironically, I purchased this because of the low price and the size. I needed a small bottle I could put water, juice, or whatever in and throw in my lunchbox for college. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that while I thought I was getting, just another water bottle, I actually got the best bottle I have ever owned.First of all, I thought I would hate the top (which is the signature feature of Nalgene Bottles). I usually don't like to deal with screwing the cap on and off every time I want a drink of water, but this cap is easy to remove, and the design makes it so the cap stays to the side until I want to put it back on. I also have had many water bottles in my time, because they simply don't last. They get cracked tops or bases, and they are useless. This bottle will never have to be repurchased. This is because (1) it is extremely sturdy and (2) it has a lifetime warranty. Keep in mind that this particular bottle (1-pint size) is relatively small, so it is great for a bottle to go with a packed lunch, but as a daily water bottle, get the 32oz size. Nalgene has a wide variety of colors available, so you can get exactly what you want. I will never replace this bottle, except maybe with a bigger Nalgene.
