A Really Nice Value
The vintage sunburst finish is very pretty. Right out of the box the guitar needed a little attention:I tightened up the hex nuts that keep the tuning machines secure; I ran a sanding sponge up and down both the treble-side and the bass-side of the fretboard to smooth out some prickly fret edges; I buffed up all of the frets with a "grade 0000" (extra fine) steel wool pad; I put on a new set of D'Addario 10's; and I adjusted the bridge saddle heights to a comfortable level (just high enough off the fretboard to allow you to slide a Quarter under each string at the 17th fret-- makes for a nice medium-low action). I was happy to find that the nut was cut and placed quite accurately (first-position chording actually rings in tune!); the neck is comfortable and straight; and the humbucking pickup sounds decent. The guitar is very playable. But probably the most noteworthy thing is its weight-- it is really light compared to many other guitars that I've played, and there's something inviting about that. So, for about $69.00, with the above measures having been taken, this is a really nice value.

Must be joking
Well I'm sure glad I didn't pay much for this.... because man if this is what you are calling a beginner Guitar. I'm in the wrong line of work. Holy crap we're 😳 do I start. I've been playing an repairing Guitar for a while now an this thing needs a pretty intense setup before it would be a dependable Beginner Guitar. I mean come on.......

Lots of work to do!
Bought for a project. Get rid of the pickups, wiring, bridge and tuners. Neck is ok. Nut is acceptable. Cool grain underneath. That was a plus.

Not sure about "beginners" guitar.
Pretty decent guitar.First the good. The finish is pretty much what you see in the photo of it. It is a three piece body which isn't anything to complain about. You do see where the wood meets but nothing to bad.The humbucker is a pretty standard pickup. Nothing to crazy but nothing horrible either. The tuners are pretty decent I think, especially for the price. It came pretty close to being fully intonated which is good. The okay. The scale length is 25.5, but somehow seems shorter. I'm not sure if the bridge is just further back or what exactly but from nut to bridge is 25.5.The frets. While I have no issue with the frets from 1-15, the problem becomes they stopped dressing them around the 16th fret. The reason it's in the middle is if you never go beyond the 16th fret you'll never know they aren't as well dressed. They aren't horrible, or sharp. You just know they stopped dressing them as well. "Beginners don't need to go beyond this fret so I'm not going to make them as perfect" kind of thing. The gigbag is... weird. It does not zip around the neck instead only opening around the body and you have to angle the guitar out of the bag. Other then that it's a pretty standard gigbag. Will it help if you drop your guitar from a building? No.Will it protect it from sliding off from the wall? Yes.The cable and strap are pretty common freebies. Are they great quality? No.Will they help if you have nothing else, or this is the first guitar? Yes.The bad.The action on the low E is about 2.5/2.75mm so not super high but pretty high. The high E on the other hand is almost 4mm, and some of the others are pretty high. While you can tinker with them at the bridge, I have issues saying the guitar is for beginners because yes it is a $90 guitar but then a set up on top of that and you end up paying more, and then the adjustment screws are also very high which is not the best for palm muting. The neckplate. While I wasn't sure where to put this part I do feel it is worth mentioning that the screws from the neckplate are not reccessed, and very scratchy, which means it can scratch holes in your clothes. The nut. Again kind of odd putting it here but it is a drawback. While cut decently the nut has an odd feel to it that stops your hand from reaching the first few frets. The ones that you know, beginners use. I'm sure it just needs to be profiled and sanded down but again, do I think beginners should have to do this? No I don't.So all in all; do I like this guitar as a little $90 thing? Sure. I can address the shortcoming myself but I do have issues with saying it's a beginners guitar because it needs a set up. Which I know a lot of experienced players will say that anything in the price range will need but again, I'm looking at it as someone just starting guitar and is ready to go.

It comes with plastic strings. Impossible to maintain tuning for than one strum.
Plastic strings like a child's toy. Disappointing.
