Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio Mini

I have two of these! I use one for recording the program feed of my ATEM Television Studio HD and other as an input source for motion graphics and video. I’m still learning this system but thus far it has worked great.

Great little recorder, though it is a bit on the pricey side. Nice that the screen allows you to change recording format and provides helpful info about how much record time is left on the current card and if the secondary card has space to take over seamlessly.

Communicated well throughout the transaction as the hyper deck delivery was delayed due to bad weather. I am happy with the hyperdeck mini performance so far.

Works great with all my Blackmagic products but sometimes, I get no picture coming in through my SDI input from my ATEM HD. Having to press the play button multiple times sometimes works but other times I have to bypass it straight into the Web Presenter and record from a separate source. Will move up to 5 stars if BM can figure out this issue I'm having as well as others.

I needed to buy 19 of these units for a giant importing job... so far at least TEN have failed, often within hours of unboxing. The worst part is that the view on the monitor and SDI/HDMI output is fine, so you may capture for hours, and only discover once you import the memory card that you have an offset picture and thick pink line through your image -- and on two of the units, they turned everyone into the smurfs with a strong blue cast!I have reached out to Blackmagic several times (as well as posting on social media), and they have not been at all helpful. They even had me upgrade to Catalina, only to find out it wasn't at all necessary to update to the newest firmware (which didn't fix the problem).Did I mention it happened with *10* units, in the first few weeks? It often happens right after opening a new unit. This is not a random occurrence -- clearly it is happening with a high percentage of units. They were purchased from several retailers, so it isn't likely to be just a single batch. One note is it seems only to happen in HD. At first it is intermittent, but gets more and more frequent until every capture is affected.And the worst part -- BEWARE OF BUYING OPEN BOX -- because I returned several units, and even included the smurf photo above -- but the retailer (through Amazon) said they didn't see anything wrong with them and would be reselling the units. Keep your box and all materials too, because you are very likely to need them when you return it.

Great price and fast delivery (on a Sunday) with Prime... Blackmagic really should include a power cord with the unit though (even though it has PoE)...

The unit I received from this seller had been opened and used before. Scratches on the top. The SDI in did not work. Kept glitching. I'll be sending back!Edit: I was able to get the device to work. Giving 3 stars still due to the device being used instead of new.
