Great quality artichoke bottoms
Great quality artichoke bottoms from Peru! Many ways to stuff them and serve. Firm and not mushy.

Totally Inedible. Mushy overcooked artichoke bottoms with tough fibers throughout.
Totally Inedible. Mushy overcooked artichoke bottoms, yet laced with tough fibrous matter throughout each artichoke bottom. It appears the raw artichoke bottoms were imperfect prior to cooking, laced throughout with hard fibers. An ineffective attempt was made to soften the fibrous matter within the normal artichoke flesh by overcooking this vegetable. There was no quality control checks or the manufacturer would have noticed the disgusting end product before packaging. This appears to be an attempt to dump defective produce on customers. This attempt to pass on poor produce can only result in harming this company’s reputation. If drought, or soil contamination, or both led to sourcing artichokes which ultimately were inedible, the final cooked product should have been tossed. This would have been the right and honest thing to do. I too haven’t seen these on supermarket shelves of late. Seems supermarkets are more discerning of the products they place on their shelves. Amazon should have put a hold on selling this product when the bad ratings started pouring in. I read the conflicting customer ratings and was conflicted but took a chance when ordering. Why Amazon didn’t check out the product themselves, I cannot understand. Artichoke bottoms are the most amazing product I only discovered 3-4 years ago. I truly wonder if recent drought conditions isn’t ultimately the root of the problem with these artichoke bottoms. Amazon should pull this product until this manufacturer sources better quality artichokes, stops overcooking low quality inedible produce only to package it in an attempt to cut their losses. It’s dishonest of both companies to attempt passing on poor produce to turn a profit. Treat customers with more respect and your reputations won’t be harmed longterm. After Amazon pulls this product, and if in the future this company provides an edible artichoke bottom, Amazon should place a “Notice to customers” under this product review area about what Amazon found when doing quality control check on the product, being sure to date the notice so customers can have assurance they aren’t wasting their time and money purchasing again from this manufacturer.

artichoke bottoms
The case and the cans are in good condition. Some of the labels came off but I taped them back on. The artichoke bottoms are firm but not tough, and they are NOT squishy. All is good...except the labels but that's not a big problem.

Great taste!
Nice tangy flavor that goes great with salads, in dips or just by itself! Doesn’t have the tough, fibrous outer leaves you find in regular artichoke hearts.

Not what they used to be
I remember getting this product at my local store many years ago, but since the local stores stopped carrying this I've missed the artichoke bottoms.I tried to adjust to eating artichoke hearts, but they are tough and I feel as if I'm trying to eat large popcorn hulls.I decided to order these artichoke bottoms with the hopes that they would be as good as I remembered them to be when I was able to buy them local. Much to my disappointment these are very much flavored with the citric acid they are packed in. My first can I made the mistake of warming them in the liquid they came in - they were awful! The second can I drained and used some butter to saute them - they were a little better but still tasted of the citric acid that they are packed in. Maybe I'll try warming/cooking them in plain water to see if I can get the citric acid flavor out of them and get the actual artichoke flavor to come through.
