Q: How simple is it to disable the locking mechanisms?

i looked mine over and in my opinion you would have to remove the handles and take out the springs and locking bars on it. I would never do it tho.....may loose a finger or two. I assume that you want to do the flip tricks with it. Sorry if I'm wrong. I have 2 bali swords and they are so heavy and they are dangerous to try and flip.

Email Gerber for replacement screws. There's a good chance they'll give them to you for free. Blue loctite them in when you get them.

Q: Can you treat it like a butterfly knife, in the sense of tricks and messing around with it? Or is it like a butterfly in just how it closes?

No. It has locks you have to press to close it. At two different points. Looks to me like this was intentional design to prevent butterfly knife tricks with it.

The angle of grind is 15° per side for a total of 30°.
