Cuts through steel like butter
How often do you spend £30 on a drill bit?If it cuts like this one does then I'd ensure a quality spend any day as it's value for money.Used to cut through 6mm steel bulkhead on a narrow boat for an isolator switch install in a difficult position.Absolutely brilliant bit of kit, large pilot hole first then cutting oil and a steady drill speed made a 26mm hole with ease.Apart from a few scratch marks the cutter still looks brand new, I hope to use it for many more hole drillings in the future.I've used the cheaper version with their goldish coating before and can honestly say they are rubbish compared to this.

Really good.
This was bought for a specific job, and has not been used since. Sharp, and sturdy, and good value.

This is a good step drill bit
I bought this bit after destroying three brand new decent quality step drill bits. Now it probably was due to the fact I was drilling through 5mm plate steel and the middle of a weld. So I was probably pushing the limits out of the bits in the first place, and I lost my patience and went full send with an industrial builders drill, lol. I got this bit which while this one cost as much as the fill set of 5 I got before this one. The quality is very good and I could tell it is well made and the design is better then the others I have. I used this to continue to drill out the hole in the steel the other bits burnt up trying to get threw. I did take more care the keep the speed down on the drill. This bit was able to cut the hole out to the point I needed to complete my project. It did get quiet warm but not nearly as how at the other bits that burnt up. I will be using this for other projects and I would recommend this to anyone else who needs a step drill bit. There are times with tools you do get what you pay for. I hope this helps you to decide if this bit is good for you.

Does the job well
From having to work in a Winery full of stainless steel, I had a very bad memory of trying to drill holes in the material. Having done my research this time I chose to use this bit on a small Bosch bench drill. It was my also my first step bit but I was immediately delighted by the ease at which it went through 2mm stainless and the positive feel of the steps which allowed me to choose the diameter easily and add a little chamfer with a bit more pressure.

Pricey but does the job
I needed to drill some holes in 2mm steel to feed bolts through so rather than buy a single use large drill bit I elected to buy this step drill that should get some use again in the future. I drilled a 4mm pilot hole and then used this bit to step out to the 12mm hole required. It took no effort with the hand drill and the bit didn't get more than warm, though I did take it gently through the drill steps.Overall, a handy addition to my tool kit.Update - 3 years on and it's been one of my constant go to tools. It still cuts through steel with ease after a good amount of use. It has become one of my why didn't I buy one 20 years ago select tools.

Quality bit
Well worth the money. A very well machined quality tool. Used it for a number of different jobs and it has performed faultlessly. Always remember to have the drill on the slowest speed setting as you step up from the initial pilot hole.
