A great read for owners and valuators
As a founder of a growing valuation firm, I found “Art of Business Valuation” to be a very well written and thoughtful book. It is not only designed for young valuators but I would go as far to say it could be used as a refresher course for those that have been practicing for over 10, 15 or even longer. The book provides an in-depth and candid look into our valuation world. While reading, I realized that many items discussed in the book that we do not necessarily think about when valuing small businesses, are the things that can go terrible wrong. Not only is it a great refresher course for myself but a must read for my new valuators.

You will get your money worth... ($48)
You will not find "new theory" or something you don't already know. However, Caruso brings few interesting points in the BV world of very small businesses. This book is not a "deep dive" on a particular subject. Caruso tried to make the book a "catch it all" book that scratch issue related to very small BV.On some issues he doesn't really gives an answers but raising points for the reader to be mindful or to be discovered on your own.It seemed to me that Caruso invest lots of his time to compiled these small BV issues and put them together in a book format.

Unfortunately, the the index is incorrect.
I used the book to research an item and the index is incorrect. Example - Inventory Method, 278 when actually on page280.Very inconvenient.May comment on substance once reviewed.

Great book for those interested in practical advice for small business valuations
In this text Gregory Caruso takes what he has learned as a business valuer, CPA, attorney, and business broker and shares with you what you need to know when valuing a small business. He uses data, his experiences, and his knowledge to write a very practical guide to help you. I found the book to be extremely helpful and insightful. His insights coupled with his analysis and the use of graphs and tables allows even the uninitiated to understand the process. I recommend this book to anyone interested in small business valuations.

This book should be in your library!
An overwhelming number of US businesses have less than $5 million in revenue—even less than $1 million in revenue. Someone has to value these businesses, yet our profession's body of knowledge offers scant advice on how to accurately go about it. Greg's book changes that by unabashedly recognizing the differences in the application of data, procedures, methods, and approaches for these small companies ... and how to work through it all. I wish this book would have been available 20 years ago when I started my business valuation practice.
