I looked long and hard to find the brass hose nozzle like I bought years ago- and this is "The One"
For the longest time, I had three brass hose nozzles. One in my backyard, one in my front yard, and a floater that went camping, in the RV, etc. One of those nozzles I purchased from Lee Valley (which I will call #1 for this review), and it was all brass, and I had it for at least 10 years. The second, or #2, I am not sure where I bought it, and had it for at least 15 years - I am thinking Home Depot. The third one (#3) was a semi-recent purchase from Home Depot (5 or so years old?) and it was brass with that blasted plastic / rubber coating over the nozzle.Recently, I noticed that the Lee Valley nozzle (#1) and the HD nozzle (#3) were leaking / dripping no matter how much I tried to torque them down. I even tried new O-Rings to no avail... they would leak no matter what. However, the oldest nozzle (#2) still worked flawlessly, and did not leak or drip. Plus, the #2 nozzle had the best / tightest spray pattern on the coarsest setting, and moreover, when turning the nozzle and cycling through the different flows, it transitioned smoothly from start to finish, and finished up with a fine mist and wide spray pattern. The other nozzles were not as tight a pattern, and were not as smooth on adjustment. It should be noted that the nozzle that worked the best was also the nozzle I used the most, and was 15 years old.So, since my other two nozzles were drippy (which drove me nuts), it was time to replace them. So I went to Home Depot.... well, some of you know what happened next, a lot has changed over the years. NO ALL BRASS NOZZLES. Same thing at Lowes. Of course Amazon had brass nozzles, and a selection no less!! Then, my goal was to find the one that has worked so well over the years - IF it was still available. The problem this nozzle I had for 15 years had NO markings on it - no country of manufacture (though I assumed US), no product branding... nothing. Just a finely crafted, well functioning nozzle with no identifying marks. When I was not sure I would find it, I originally got "sucked in" by the "Worlds Best" brass nozzle, which is VERY similar to the Dramm nozzle also sold here on Amazon. So I bought the Dramm. Bottom line - fine nozzle - BUT it was too rough a pattern (not tight on the full stream spray), and did not transition well through the spray pattern. The difference was the top was very wide, and the inside part of the nozzle was a markedly larger diameter than the one I had for the last 15 years... I just did not prefer the way it performed. So I then tried harder to find the same one I had that worked so well - the one we call #2 - by looking at the pictures here on Amazon closely. I found two nozzles here on Amazon that looked like the nozzle - one was a nozzle from Backyard Pros and this Gilmour nozzle. So I bought the one from Backyard Pros hoping it was similar. The biggest difference I saw in the Amazon pics was the Backyard Pros nozzle has "Made in USA" printed on the nozzle. Bottom line - when the nozzle came in, it did not take long to discover it was not as refined or well functioning than the brass nozzle I had all these years.FINALLY, I purchased this Gilmour nozzle. And you guessed it - other than a couple of minor differences, it was identical to the nozzle I had all these years. The Gilmour nozzle still has no identifying marks just like the one I own, no country of manufacture, no branding, etc. (Even though the pic here on Amazon appears to have stamped printing on the base of the nozzle, the one I received does not have any markings). The real test - I took the new Gilmour nozzle outside, hooked it up and tried it out - and it performed as well, if not better than the one I own. FOUND IT!!!I plan on purchasing another. Am I picky and / or a little particular about my hose nozzle? Maybe. But I know I want solid brass, and after having one that has performed so well, lets just say I learned the difference, and got spoiled by what I perceived as better / cleaner performance. NOTE the Gilmour nozzle is not as fat as other brass nozzles, and this means it probably does not have the throughput or gallons per minute rating. BUT, it has a nice tight stream, and transitions through the spray pattern smoothly and cleanly. It also sprays much further as a result if that matters. The other nozzles may put out more water, but I do not prefer them due to their performance. The fatter nozzles like the Dramm, Worlds Best, etc have a sloppy full stream, and the spray pattern does not transition smoothly in volume, and at some point just instantly stops....I would recommend the Gilmour nozzle to anyone who would ask....Thanks for reading.

Just Like Dad's
This thing is no nonsense.Just solid brass with no parts to break. No dopey squeeze handle that you have to continually hold down.Just twist and go!Sprays well whether you want a fine mist or a power shot spray.

The old mainstay
Yes I know this was a company in western PA which is now likely owned by a PE frim that makes it in China. That said, it's fine. I used my new one all summer and it's held up. My original (same model essentially) still works just fine today and might be close to 50 years old. I don't know if this one will hold up that long but for the price it's worth trying. It's 100% better than some plastic crap nozzle from big box store that has 10 different spray nozzles but lasts 3 months... you know what I mean. Get it, try it, it's good so far.

Excellent nozzle. It's sturdy and shoots a long, hard stream
This nozzle is better than the ones I remember from the 70's. Zero leaks, strong stream of water. Works extremely well to shoot a stream of water a long ways. However, don't plan on using it to water your plants. There is essentially no way to allow an "easy" stream or reduced stream of water. When allowing the reduced amount of water, it sprays outward in a mist-like spray. One might think a mist-like spray would be good to water plants, but the reduced setting sprays a fine mist almost horizontally from the nozzle opening. Hard to explain, but it's not a good nozzle to water plants (tomatoes, peppers) that are planted in planters or buckets. It's a great nozzle to do what it looks like it would be good for (long, strong, straight spray), but we are going back to our other more adjustable nozzle.

Very durable over 3 yrs. 98/100.
Due to leaks, just replaced the two small O-ring washers inside the twist turn handle of this nozzle, purchased in May 2017. The original washers wore out evenly, looked in good shape. That means product inside extremely well made. Nozzle used on an outdoor hose that watered a veggie garden (approx 30' x 30') in FL, whenever no rain. Soapy warm water helped to remove small O-ring, if tweezers not available. Naturally the color of nozzle dulled over the years, still its condition looks brand new, as it sat outside all the time. Surprisingly, Gilmour did not put its name on this nozzle, no markings at all. My wife says that this was the only nozzle used. Nozzle was so easy to remove from hose by hand, as teflon tape was used at connection. Replaced that big washer inside connection, which melted a bit, so had to thoroughly clean connection. Such a well made product, so glad to have bought it.

Works great, most concentrated stream gets junk off sidewalks
We have a lot of trees and thus a lot of birds...right over our brick pathway. The most concentrated stream gets bird poop off the bricks with ease, and even going with a little wider stream you still get a lot of power. Haven't had it too long (a month or two) but no leaks and seems well made, screws onto hose easy etc. You can also turn it all the way off if you need to set the hose down to move it or something, which comes in handy. Very pleased with it as I've had others that just didn't work right in one way or another.

I unscrewed the nozzle to inspect it and the craftsmanship is very poor. I debated for a long time whether I should take a grinding stone in my drill to clean up the slag from the interior or return it but ended up doing nothing(at least I am honest) I have had it 6 months and haven't used it. The outside is quality brass which looks like it will last forever! It is too bad what I mentioned above.
