A little loose, but they hold together as long as expected.
I buy these 8" cedar baskets for orchids that we hang from almost anyplace in our backyard we can find. They handle heavy rain, high winds, high temps and humidity we have in Florida just fine, can't remember ever having one break on me, but I have had to take a few apart to untangle and cut some of the larger plants into smaller ones, because they were running out of space, and now they have plenty of room to grow into another large plant. They may be a little loose to start with, but when you get your orchid and the planting mix inside, they're just fine, glad I found them here from Sun Bulb, and at a very reasonable price. As you can see from my pictures, they hold orchids very well, my Mother just got a new White flowering orchid that will soon be transplanted into a basket, but for Christmas, we have left it in the ceramic pot that it came with. Much cleaner than putting the wooden basket on top of a table, and my uncle who gave it to her was happy to see it inside the house all Christmas day. Because we’re lucky enough to live in Florida, where we rarely need to worry about it getting too cold for them, we actually have some of the hangers, which I buy on Amazon, that the lemon tree has “eaten” the top of the hanger, and I guess it likes the steel for a dietary supplement.I try to have 2-3 extra baskets on hand most of the time for transplanting, I keep my extras inside a shed where the wood probably dries out to the point where most wood would dry rot, even pressure treated lumber, but it doesn’t bother these baskets at all.Yes, I like them this much to write the best glowing review I can, and I do pay for all of them, not one freebie in the bunch. Buy them, they are all that I’ve said and then some.

wonderful for vanda orchids; you can put lava rocks in the bottom to support the plant as well
I bought this for a vanda orchid. Vandas' roots are not supposed to be buried in soil and putting the plant in a slat basket gives the roots a place to grip (they will grow through the slats) to keep the plant in place. I filled the bottom with some large lava rocks (fairly neutral color, porous to hold some water, lightweight) and set the plant on top, tucking a few roots through slats. So far my orchid has been in this for a few weeks and everything is great. This looks exactly like the official product image. The description of the size is accurate (8 x 8 x 4.8 inches). Regarding drainage, there are sizeable gaps between the slats so pouring water in here is probably not the best idea. I spray my orchid's roots from a spray bottle every day for water (the lava rocks pick up a bit and release it via evaporation during the day, as well). I don't get water pooling underneath the basket because I am just spraying, not pouring water. (You could put some sort of liner in here, in which case the drainage would come into play, but the liner would show.)The quality is great. No slats were loose, everything was well-sanded, there were no splinters, etc. I have mine on a shelf rather than hanging, but the eyelets in the corners do seem securely fastened and hanging is certainly a viable option. Air circulation around my plant in this basket is great; I think this is helping to prevent any sort of rotting.I do not know how this is finished. It looks like there could be some sort of stain but that also could be the natural color of the wood (I don't own any other objects made of cedar for comparison). I do know that my water spraying, which sometimes gets all over the basket as well as the plant roots, has not damaged the basket so far. The spacing between the slats allows for pretty quick evaporation. I think in my case, the wood is staying in great condition because it is not constantly in contact with moist soil (which, again, a liner would prevent).

Well made .. Great for my Orchids
Well made. Sturdy Wood, proper size. I will use to replant some of my orchids that have overgrown their containers. No hangers included but we make our own out of tie wire. Very nice for the money.

The best price for these
All around it’s a decent basket if you’re not looking to spend $30 or more. For the most part they are stable and maybe wiggle just a little bit. It does feel a pinch cheap but honestly I don’t really care as long as the plant in it is happy. No complaints about the spacing of the slats as I read some people didnt like. You should be lining these with the coconut chior fiber if you’re not planning on putting a Vanda orchid in them. Overall I have 2 and I would buy more. Hopefully they start making these in the 6 inch size. My final conclusion is definitely worth buying if you’re on a budget. I don’t know how they will hold up in the long run but there definitely doing the job for now

Great outdoor hanging planter
I've been eyeing this planter every time I go to the botanical gardens. I finally decided to buy it for our new pergola. It's quality craftmanship. This particular item does not come with the 4-wire hanger, which was a plus to me, since I want to use my own chains. The price point was excellent.

Perfect for orchids
Great size for two big orchid plants. Pretty color as well. My plants are very happy being planted in here. The roors have a lot of air flow and space to grow.

Great basket for the money.
When all the other baskets available are 3X the price, this is a great basket. That they are sturdy (at least mine have been) and my orchids seem to grow like crazy in them, this makes it a fantastic basket. I've bought the maximum several times now. They are the same baskets that you can get at the box stores. If you are growing large cattleya orchids, they are perfect. If I had a complaint (I don't really) it would be that I would like one size smaller at a similar price.
