Q: why is the band such a problem

Call 1-800-448-4639 for a replacement. I also think they have a band problem but I can't seem to keep my phone reliably charged to use that as an alternative yet. I've personally replaced my band twice already.

Q: Does this watch have a large face or small one?

It's a perfect size for my 10 year old. I don't think it's too large.

Q: has anyone found a replacement band?

I try looking for one everywhere but no use. So I just got a band that was small enough to fit. It look passable.

Q: Can you use it for swimming laps?

Yes! It is water resistant to 100meters. It should be fine for swimming laps, or at least based on the product description. I use mine for running, but have worn it in the shower from time to time, and it was fine.
