I bought my first Nite Ize item, a clip-on light for my dog's collar, some years ago at a pet store. It was too bulky for my small dog's collar and had to be taken on and off constantly, so I eventually used it as a keychain light instead, and it lasted years. Soon I started to see the brand everywhere, and I have acquired quite a few of their products, both for my dog and other uses such as camping and tie-downs. It's a great brand with well-made products. However, their attention to pet safety sold me on the brand.I saw this leash before buying it, and I've also seen their light-up ball and frisbee in action at the dog park; all are equally impressive. My favorite product so far is their rechargeable, LED, glowstick-looking light-up pet collar, another item I saw in action before buying, on two cats being walked in the evening after all the mischievous dogs had gone to bed. The collar is an excellent addition to our night-time walks and helps me locate my pup at the dog park after dark, but I need something more substantial since not every street in our neighborhood has sidewalks.The leash is simple but executed well, and the quality is excellent. The LEDs are very bright, without disturbing my eyes or bothering my pup, with the choice of blinking, solid, or no lights with the push of a button. It only comes in one size so far, so it is a 1" thick leash, larger than I typically buy for my 12 # dog, but since it's for safety purposes, I prefer it. I cannot vouch for its reliability or durability yet, as I've only had it a couple of days, but the collar has lasted almost a year of nearly daily use and still looks and performs like new.There's a well-made battery holder under the hand loop where you charge it and turn on/off the lights with a small button. An attached silicone stopper protects the charging port. In my experience with all light-up Nite Ize products, the charge lasts a couple of weeks with 1-2 hr/day use, though I will update this review if anything is different with this leash. A tip I've learned that will help extend the battery life of anything rechargeable is to only leave it on the charger until charged. Leaving things plugged in indefinitely or even overnight weakens the battery.My only concern about the leash is cleaning it. I live in a small urban apartment without much room between my front door and sofa, or bed for that matter, so keeping a clean home means being extra particular. I throw my dog's leashes and collars in a garment bag and run them with a load in the washerthen air dry, every few weeks. This leash should be easy enough to clean with a good wipe-down without damaging the lights or battery. If not, I'll update the review.

We have had our leash for over a year and love it and the light up collar. It is perfect for walking in the dark. People are often commenting on how smart it is as well as how cool it is. We use the flashing setting when have to cross streets but usually use the steady on setting. And it’s rechargeable which is great. The charge lasts us just about a week for an hour long walk each day. Can’t say enough great things about this leash!

Perfect for winter night walks with the dog when it gets dark early. Not only is it unique and bright but it makes us visible to on coming traffic. People comment about the cool light up leash. Durable and functional. Highly recommend for anyone walking their dog day or night.

This leash is almost perfect. The one thing that prevents me from giving it 5 stars is that the micro USB port cover where you plug in to recharge the leash keeps falling off. I just got the thing about a week ago, but I’ve already thrown out the packaging - so I guess I can’t exchange it.Otherwise the leash is great! It’s incredibly bright and all the other parts feel sturdy. My neighborhood is not well lit at night and this makes me feel like my puppy and I are much safer on night walks.If the company monitors these reviews, I’d love to get a replacement where the USB port cover stays on.Update (7/18/23): The leash now does not hold a charge well nor does it shine as bright. My dog also chewed on the base of the leash and the led strip is poking out. :-/

I got this because we live in a high traffic area and I want to be visible. I get compliments on it at least once a week. It holds a charge well. It is also very durable. Our first one of these lasted 4 years with multiple daily uses by an 80 lb dog.

This is definitely one of the better LED leashes out there but it is the company that makes it the BEST. I have purchased many of the ones available on Amazon and this one has lasted the longest. After just over a year, it started to dim significantly except for the ends.... but this is a long time considering the others maybe lasted half a year before barely lighting up. Before I bought another one, I decided to look up the company's website to see if they had anything else better and found that they had a 2 year guarantee! So I contacted them and they very promptly sent me a replacement. This is how companies should be - stand behind their product. When the replacement needs replacing, I will be buying this one again. I should also mention that this is the only one I could find that did not have the light on just one side - another great reason to choose this one!

Can be set to solid or blinking. Works well for me because we don’t have sidewalks. I wish there was a ring clip midway on the leash or 2nd handle loop for when you need gain more control of your dog.
