With a few modifications of my own it's perfect
I'm very happy with this purchase. As you can see from my pictures I modified it quite a bit. I foster kittens for the local shelter here and I recently purchased this kennel and it works very well once I adjusted it the way I wanted it.Assembly was a little rough, I needed my son's assistance but it got accomplished. I didn't like how the ladders were pretty wiggly (so are kittens so it could've been a bad combination) so I used twisty ties to keep them from moving when walked on. I also covered the ladders, this time, with plastic bubble wrap (Ipsy shipping bags). Last time I used pieces of thin, fabric like, styrofoam, usually used for shipping items, to cover the ladders. The rungs on the ladders are a little wide and kittens like to jump and wrestle and then jump on their unsuspecting brother or any other type shenanigan. I was afraid a kitten would be on the ladder and then get jumped on and cause a leg to fall through the ladder and then get knocked off with their leg stuck in the ladder! So I definitely cover those with something they can grip and climb on.Another part of putting it together was that there was a corner or two that wouldn't fit together completely flush. I used zip ties to fix that and it worked perfectly. Obviously not an issue for a bigger kitty but my babies are little and can easily escape. Along with the "escape" factor, I have had some issues with the bottom tray not staying centered with the corners sitting on the 4 pegs in each corner meant to hold it in place. This is probably because of the weight I have on it but some of that is a litter box so I feel anyone would have substantial weight in the bottom. As a result, one side has an opening at the bottom that my little kittens can squeeze through. I just rolled up a blanket and put it over the space and it works perfectly. Each of the little houses have heating pads inside of them and the cords obviously come out between the bars of the kennel. They also have a water bottle in there (like one for a rabbit or hamster--but bigger) that I teach the kittens to use. This hangs on the side of the kennel and that way I don't have to put water bowls on the ground and have everything get wet. I also put something soft on the bottom so if they fall or jump they land softly. With the previous litter I cut pieces of cardboard to line the sides of the ladders to keep them from falling off but didn't do it this time. They do well without them and the walls ended up just getting chewed on and bent. I have blankets and cloth pads surrounding the kennel to both prevent drafts/unstable temperature and to keep other foster kittens from interacting with them. As you can see in my pics, my other little foster doesn't know he's sick and desperately wants to play with them.Other reviews have mentioned that it's annoying the bottom tray doesn't come out. I use either a tiny broom and dustpan or take the kittens out and use a shop vac. It's definitely still able to be cleaned even if it doesn't come out. I also moved the bottom ladder to put it in a place that gave me more floor room.I'm very happy with this purchase. I kind of want a second one! It's been perfect!

Smaller than some but still sturdy enough for the job.
Smaller than anticipated. I bought this based on the size of a relative's but didn't take measurements. It will still work, i should have verified the size. Otherwise, the assembly process was simple enough. I raised the kennel completely and realized the platforms would go in easier as you put the walls up. The litter pan I purchased was in anticipation of a larger kennel but still fits snugly at the base. We have two medium cats that will share the space while we're at work.

Love it
Best large bird cage. They love playing up the ramps! If inside put a board or wall protector.

kitten hotel
Found 2 kittens on the side of the highway. They've been occupying the bathroom (we have 2 adult cats and 2 dogs and the babies aren't big enough to hold their own loose in the house yet). As they became more active and agile, trying to brush your teeth and other bathroom activities became painful (kittens think human = cat tree) and you had to be sooooo careful not to step on or trip over them. This is a safe place for them to be that lets the other animals get used to them, gives them space to play, and keeps them from getting lost under furniture. It was pretty quick and easy to assemble. These kinds of structures always end up being a little loose/not secure in few places, but three zip ties at the top seems to work well. It can be a bit of a pain to place/adjust shelves and you are limited to the left of the doors as it's not wide enough to place a shelf in those areas. We tied the provided shelf covers around the corner and the "hook" on the edge of the shelf for security. I also sewed some cheap fabric to make covers for the ramps and tied those on too. They LOVE the hammock. The hooks work well but I don't love the open corners + cord. They want to chew the cord and I worry about someone getting caught in the open corners. I plan to replace it with something a little nicer. Now that they are a bit bigger (about 2 1/2 months old) they could probably negotiate a lot of it without the ramps. We have a small litter box in the corner and I bought crate feeders that have a plastic cup holder that attaches and then a metal cup insert so I can take them in and out for cleaning without having to undo the whole thing. They do get litter/food in the water one daily! They also still get time in the bathroom for horizontal run time. It has helped to have options! When they have outgrown the need, it will fold back down (after cutting zip ties) for storage. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Great cat cage!
Easy to assemble, but bulky. It has worked great has enough room on bottom level to hold litter box with easy access.

Big enough for a dozen birds
I had thirteen birds (Parakeets) in mine. You can probably push it to fifteen small birds, but it may get too congested. While the bottom droppings tray is plastic so it will not rust from moisture the tray can get floppy or wobblily when you pull it out. So, a thicker plastic and a tray with taller walls is needed. Otherwise, it's fine. I used black zip ties to fasten the corners as the supplied metal and plastic connectors are not so good.
