Worked perfectly in my Vermont Castings Defiant wood stove

The probe arrived timely and as described. Good quality construction and easy to install.

Perfect fit but rattles at certain temps. No guidance as to how to fix. Original equipment did not do this

There is an issues with these air probes that cause a dangerous overfire condition.How this probe works is that it attaches to an air flap. When the stove is cold, the flap is open, and when the stove heats up, this probe has a coil that expands and closes the air flap. The arm on the probe is at about 4 o’clock position when cold and rotated to the 6/7 o’clock position when hot. Well sometimes this probe will keep going to the 9 o’clock position which will open the air flap back up, introducing more air into an already hot stove.I had the first probe I ordered replaced under warranty for this issue, and while the second probe worked ok for a week or so, it started to do the same thing. This part is dangerous and should be recalled by Vermont castings. I have spoke with them and they said it should not be doing this (wow no kidding). I have included a picture that shows this probe opening the air flap back open while hot.
