One of the Best Saint Books
These are beautifully written, engaging, poignant, mystical, and concise stories of Saints. I just received it, and I read Polycarp, Perpetua & Felicity, and Cecilia with my 6-year-old tonight; and she was begging for more. So far, these are some of the best tellings of these stories that I’ve encountered. I myself am in awe. The illustrator is also amazing. The images are so beautiful, symbolic, and mystical. This book is so amazing that I’m already ordering more; one as a backup for myself to keep in mint condition, and another one for my mom. I highly recommend you acquire this gorgeous book right away.

Gorgeous, compelling illustrations!!!
The media could not be loaded. I love it! I am so happy with my purchase! The illustrations are vibrant and compelling, they absolutely draw you into the life of the saints. Most of the saints featured are well known ones, and the stories given brief and engaging and include a brief bio of where they are from, their dates, and their patronage. Each entry is written in story form. I think either adults or children would enjoy this. The print is large and easy yo read.

Has a Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur
To think I almost didn’t buy this because of the critical reviews, including one that claimed this book did not have an imprimatur (I’ve included a picture of it for future shoppers, because much to my delight it has both!).I’m gifting it for a baptism for a boy who is not an infant, and only has older sisters. The stories are vibrant and compelling, and no not a one of them is a deep academic dive into the lives of the Saints, they don’t offer an in-depth lesson on the sanctity of the Eucharist, etc. etc., but it certainly does hit the highlights of women and men who have achieved Sainthood. It focuses especially on Saints who experienced physical hardships, and I think could be a compelling introduction to the men and women of God for a younger person looking for stories of adventure. The complaints about the pictures may be because the art is in a more Nordic style than most are used to, and the illustrator uses darker colors and creates pictures that are a bit surreal. This may not be to everyone’s taste but I didn’t see anywhere that “ninety percent of the pictures were inappropriate,” and again, may draw interest from children not attracted to the faith by more conventional art work. You really didn’t need to read beyond the review title to find that this is also Catholic mom approved, and a great choice for fans of the fantastical!

Good introduction to saints
Entertaining book for all ages, that shines a light on some lesser known Saints. The author uses language that is clear yet imaginative, a great read for children 8-12 years. The art work at the end of each chapter is beautiful. Deducted one star because of some factual inaccuracies that could have been avoided had the author or editor used Google.

Incredible, modern and engaging
I've worked in the Church most of my life and have seen countless books about the saints. This one is a tremendous upgrade! Just bought my fourth copy- I've donated it to my children's Catholic school classrooms, and every teacher has been blown away! The kids are eager to read these compelling stories about heroes of our faith. My kids keep a copy in the car and re-read their favorites daily. It goes well beyond the basics... Jude, Joseph, Therese... to include many saints even I wasn't familiar with. Yes, the pictures are not your classic style. They are vibrant and dynamic. This isn't your grandma's Lives of the Saints! If you want to get kids excited about their faith, get them this book!
