Good for newbies to the digimon world!
I ordered a blue digimon, and it comes exactly as it looks online. The product works as intended, and while I've never had a digimon as a child to compare it to, it's really fun! I would say if you're into the growing and evolving aspect of tamagotchis or like battling others; if that's not your jam you're probably better off getting a different v-pet. You can choose from five eggs to hatch, and with time you can unlock more as you battle and grow your pets. You can raise two at a time, and you need to battle to keep them happy as well as unlock more eggs. Your history and v-pets are saved, so if the battery dies you're not immediately starting anew like with a standard original tamagotchi. It really is an improvement over the standard v-pet model. The only con is that when you raise them, you have to monitor them constantly since they poop and fill up the screen in only a few hours. So if you're not used to raising them or have the time to be a helicopter parent it can be a handful to manage. They can live virtually forever if you treat them well, though. I definitely recommend trying them out.

Great little virtual pet!
This is the 20th Anniversary Digimon Virtual Pet, it has features and Digimon that may not have been on the original Digimon Virtual Pet. I also ordered my brother one as well, for his first one has died. Make sure you get good batteries for this, for the battery that comes with this Digivice doesn't last long. You first will start with a Digiegg that can grow into a Agumon or a Betamon, depending on how you raise it. After it digivolves into either one after Koromon, you get a choice of another Digiegg to raise, note that these aren't the only Digieggs though, for you can unlock others by battling and connecting with other Digivices, even ones that are not of the 20th Anniversary version. Note that there isn't a pause feature, but you can let your Digimon have a 3 hour nap if you are tending to other things during the day. Also if you want to know more, look for a site that has info on these Digivices, and also has info on other ones aside from the 20th Anniversary ones, such as the Digimon X Digivices, which I am also getting. Definitely great little virtual pets to have around!

Love it! Sadly it's got some cosmetic damage out of the box.
EDIT: So you know, this was my review of the Digimon X, not the DM20th. At the time when I wrote this review, all of them were on one listing. The device itself is great and I love it very much. I pre-ordered the DMX in April and it's got a lot of cool features, a great roster and some engaging gameplay!I ordered the teal one as well as the black one. The former has some damage on the back where the top right screw goes. It looks like it's either melted or scratched up. I'm a little annoyed about this as I like to keep my things in good condition and this isn't my fault. It was like that out of the box. I don't want a refund or an exchange because it doesn't affect performance, but I'm not pleased about this one bit.My black and red one will be here Monday. Fingers crossed that one won't be damaged too. Currently I won't take a star off my review because I love these devices, but I may if the other one comes damaged.

If you love tamagotchi, try this virtual pet
This is such an upgrade from the tamagotchi originals. Love all of the different colors available. Really good quality and the gameplay is so engaging.

Really fun but can take quite a bit of work
Overall, this is a pretty fun game/device. One small issue I have is that I wish it had a backlight of some sort to make the screen easier to see.Something I’d like to note for others is that the the Digimkn can be quite needy and you may find them getting sick early in the morning despite you putting them to bed.Solution: the Digimon wake up automatically at 7am every morning, I recommend changing the time to accommodate whatever time you like to start playing in the morning.

Perfect for anyone who had a childhood with a V-Pet
I can't get enough of these Digivices, they bring back so many good memories. I have become an addict and have begun collecting newly released digivices from Japan that have not yet come to america. Japan makes even more quality digivices, but these are so great for the price and for a beginner or casual. DO NOT wait to order a digivice here because these sell fast in a lot of places and once they do sell out the price can double or triple fast. I do not know how amazon still has the older versions for such a great price. The translucent yellow is actually the best of the bunch so far, i call it rose gold because of its iridescent pink shine. This device is a big part of my childhood I had forgotten. Thank you Bandai for re-releasing these in america. Now if we are lucky we will get a american release of the version X of this series which is even better!
