How to Add Value to Your Home Hardcover – September 9, 2014

Scott McGillivray is one of those writers who make me sit up and pay attention. He really gives this book his all, and doesn't hold back "secrets" if the renovators' trade from people. What he does do is make you think. What impression does your home leave visitor with and what are the ways that individuals can maximize their ROI (return on investment with their own DIY (do it yourself) projects. He also helpfully describes how to deal with these projects and which ones to avoid and hire out. I've never read a book in this DIY genre that was quite as helpful as this one was, and would highly recommend it to those interest in DIY projects to increase the value of their home

Very informative! Worth every penny and a book I'll refer to often. I wish his show "Income Properties" was still on HGTV. It was one of my favorites.

Very good advice, written in an entertaining manner. Great guidelines about what home improvements pay off when you sell and what are things that you can do that you will enjoy, but won't pay you back when you sell.

Very comprehensive introduction to property renovation. Especially useful that it spells out what is an easy DIY and what is not. These tips alone will save you much time, money and aggravation. Should have read this book before I did my first renovation.

Scott, I love your show and I love your style and the way your properties look after your renos so was very disappointed to receive your book and see the quality of the production. The pictures were mediocre and the recommendations simplistic. You are a star!!! Unfortunately your book does not live up to your work and quality.

This was a very helpful book for me as a novice. I thought it broke the material into a logical sequence, had lots of useful details and was very readable. Perfect for what I needed.
