The bag came in a timely fashion and was well packed, wrapped in a combinationof newspaper and other air filled packing materials.I ordered the smaller bag and find it of adequate fit for all of the itemsI carry around in it.I fail to understand what is the complaint in some of the comments concerning an odor.The bag, being leather, smells like leather and not the over treated leather goods thathave a resin or plastic coating. You can definitely tell that it is hand made which givesit a rustic or antique look.If you have ever been to a saddle shop, the smell (which I love) is similar, just a deep richleather smell. I would describe it as mildly nutty, with a hint of tobacco, and an oily smell(not petroleum) but more rather like olive or vegetable oil. When new,the leather smell is obviously stronger but not overpowering as otherreviews have overly exaggerated in saying it is overpowering.In the advertisement, the picture of the bag has a buckle and is described as such, so guess what, it has a bucklewhen it is delivered. So when a review says that it is better served by a clasp,I wonder why the reviewer purchased an item with a buckle knowing it hada buckle and then leaves a review criticizing it.I use the bag every day to carry small items that would usuallybe too bulky in my pockets- cell phone, 3 sets of keys (home, work,and car), reading glasses, sun glasses,etc. After using it walking around withover a number of sunny days, it holds up fantastically. Moreover, as you continue to use the bag, it formsto the shape of the items in it if the fit is snug.I prefer to have a smaller set of items that fit snugly in the bagrather than have them swimming around in a bigger bag.In all, it is a fantastic bag. I have already received a numberof complements from others on how nice the bag looks.After a few weeks of using it as it rubs agains skin, clothing,etc it gets a nice little buffed leather sheen. I wear mineslung around my back over one shoulder with the strapdiagonally across my chest and bag on my back.I would definitely buy another item from them.

Nice product, made well with good strong stitching. Gave a quick swipe with some Mink Oil, which darkened it a little bit, but looks great. The "smell" people are mentioning is just normal leather smell and is mild compared to other products I've purchased. Thought this size might be a bit small, but turned out to be a perfect size.

This is the perfect size, with all the right pockets for me. I also love the style of it, a little distressed with nice hardware. Unfortunately it smells like a dead cow. I don't mean like leather, a smell I enjoy, I mean like the skin of a rotting cow.The first idea we had for airing it out was to put it outside in the sun for a day where it could expunge it's bad odor. That didn't work. So then my wife put perfume on it and let it hang out for a few days. Still no luck.At first I thought it was just the strap which was much lower leather quality. Because there was so much I liked about the look of this bag, I decided to try to 'fix' it by cutting off the strap and trying to find another one. It seemed like a risk because I wouldn't be able to return it without a strap, and also because I knew the worst smell was coming from the strap, but the rest of it seemed smelly too. I just wasn't sure how smelly.It turned out the answer was a lot; it smelled a lot even without the strap. What I mean by that is that when I brought it into a massage room and set it down in a chair across the room, within a few minutes the whole room smelled bad ... and the masseuse noted the bad smell. We had to put it outside.Our last ditch idea was to wash it in the washing machine. It was actually my wife's idea, and I thought, what do I have to loose? So I came home today and she was washing the bag .... with a bunch of clothes. She opened the washer, and now all the clothes smelled like a dead cow, and the purse still did too. We were pretty sure we were going to have to wash all the clothes again without the bag and hope for the best.With a little bit of denial and hope, we tried to dry it. That definitely changed the bag more than anything we had tried. It had now shrunk, and also smelled worse. The heat definitely shrank the purse, but it also seemed to increase the rotting smell.I can only laugh at myself for this ridiculous series of foibles. I really wanted it to work with this bag, but alas it was not mean to be. After the shrink-stinking I finally threw it in the trash.

I've gotten so many compliments on this purse in the short amount of time I've had it. My daughter keeps asking to borrow it. The leather is stiff, but should become more supple over time. It came very well packaged. It smells like leather. It looks handmade with great attention to detail.

I recently returned from a trip to Europe and used the bag with great success. Your phone, sunglass case, and travel umbrella all stood up right. I could grab my phone without looking. Good sized zipper pocket for wallet and secured valuables.

I recieved the jaald small leather bag in 2 days! Love the size. The leather was just a little stiff so I just worked it a little and it softened right up. Great compartments .... Am sure I will use a lot!

Love this bag! I've been looking for a small vintage style leather purse for a while and hadn't found any until this. It's the perfect size and the quality and workmanship are far beyond what the picture shows.I'm not sure about the larger size, but the 9×7 is probably way too small for a man. It works great as a small purse though!As for the smell... Mine was not horrible. I aired it out for half an hour , sprayed some perfume inside and headed out the door to try my new purse out. :)The only small negative is that the straps are pretty thin and tend to tangle, but it doesn't bother me.
