The perfect spice
This stuff is awesome. Intense heat like scorpion pepper but with a better, sweeter flavor. Unlike hot sauces filled with extract, you can easily control the amount of heat you get. A tiny shake for a pleasant burn, or a heavy coating to see into other universes. :). I shared some with a friend and someone else at our table asked her how hot it was. She said, "On a scale of 1 to 10? 10."

Really good, Really HOT
HOT, HOT, HOT!!! Tasted it when I recieved it....never tasted anything so hot. Have used it in cooking, a tiny tiny bit goes a long way. Really good for spicing things up, but be careful.

it's a fine powder and will go airborne if you are not ...
The carolina reaper powder is about a third hotter than the ghost powder from the same company and more than twice as hot as daves ghost pepper sauce.Use extreme caution when handling, it's a fine powder and will go airborne if you are not careful, getting it on your hands and rubbing your eyes/other body parts is a bad idea.Taste is as expected for carolina reapers, heat is as expected, overall it's a great product although I'm not fully convinced your average joe wouldn't be better suited to the 3oz bottle of ghost pepper powder from the same company for the same price.

Hot but a little underwhelmed at first
I love pepper flavors but I don't handle the heat well. I can eat a jalapeño or two, roasted, but that's about my comfort limit. Anything more and I start to hiccup violently. This I bought on a whim, because I wondered how hot the (currently) world's hottest pepper is. The Carolina Reaper is rated above a million scoville units. Maybe the dried powder is less hot, but this seemed a convenient way to get my hands on one.I've been using this powder now for a couple of months and here's my impression:Yes, this is hot. In fact, when you open the container for the first time you may be struck by the acrid odor of the dust. I recommend that you take care how you handle. You do not want to breath in the dust or get it anywhere near eyes or nose. That said, I was initially ... underwhelmed. Not wanting to become the butt of family jokes I first tried only very light dustings on several products (fish, beans, rice, etc). There was a sense of heat but nothing overpowering. I dusted more heavily, eventually working my way up to coating my food surface so that it is red all over. Very, very hot. Still edible for me though if in limited amounts.Ok, time to take off the training wheels: With some courage and some generous shakes of the bottle, I found I could make the food, well, inedible to me (red face, sweating, hiccups and all). The food was very heavily dusted (a rice dish in this case with some chicken). So, from the "can this stuff blow me away" standpoint, the product met my expectations. However, I was initially surprised at how much it took. After doing some reading I've learned that maybe this wasn't surprising. First, human perception of spiciness is limited, capping for most of us mortals below 500,000 scoville units. Second, the scoville scale doesn't do a good job of reflecting how we perceive spiciness. If we remap the scoville scale to a human "1-10" scale, a serrano might come in around a 7, a habanero around a 9 and the reaper at a 10. Bottom line: This stuff is about as hot as we can "taste", but it may not seem much hotter that some of the other stuff you've tried. Of course, there may be other physiological consequences of consuming stuff with this intensity. I haven't worked that out yet.Flavor? I'm still blown away by the heat so I don't find the flavor particularly exciting, but maybe I'll get past that.Cost? This is a pretty expensive source for heat, but it should last you a good while. Maybe forever :)

Not as hot as expected but good flavor
While I knew it wouldn't include a lot of powder, due to the size of the product; I thought the product would at least meet a standard of heat. This powder tastes really good but doesn't pack high or even long lasting heat. I make my own seasonings that pack much more punch and only use habanero and jalepeno (with many other veggies). I would give it a 2 1/2 stars but you can only give full stars...so I rounded up.I would give it the following rating:Flavor 4*Heat 3*Burn 1*

INTENSE heat.
This stuff is too good. I'd consider myself a girl who loves her food pretty damn spicy. I eat habanero peppers like nothing so I didn't think this would've been that big of a deal. I was dead wrong. I made the mistake of sprinking a pretty hefty amount of this stuff on my burger. Worst idea EVER. I literally thought I was about to die. As soon as that powder hit my tongue my eyes started to tear up, my vision started to shake a bit, I started to sweat heavily, I felt like vomiting but I couldn't, and my mouth was on freakin fire. I ran to the fridge hoping to find some milk. NONE. So I ran to the sink and literally ran my face under the cool water for over 10 mins. Whenever I'd try to gargle it just worsened the burn. Long story short, its been 30 mins and I can STILL feel the burn on my lips and throbbing on the roof of my mouth.

Love This Pepper - But VERY Carefully!
If you enjoy really HOT peppers, the flavor and the 'slow burn' down the gullet they produce, then the Carolina Reaper is just the ticket.Over the years, I have progressed, starting with Habanero powder... Eventually, I got to the point where I wasn't getting the same slow burn, and I found myself using more and more, but still never approaching that delicious shock the first time I tasted Habanero in a bowl of Cajun Gumbo. Therefore, seeking something stronger, I discovered the Ghost Pepper (bhut jolokia) and the Trinidad Scorpion Pepper. Problem solved. I was back in teary-eyed, runny nose, forehead sweating, slow burn in my throat bliss.During the Christmas holiday, I came across an article in the Midland, Texas Reporter Telegram newspaper, describing the new latest, greatest and hottest pepper, as per the Scoville scale - The Carolina Reaper....I had to try it for myself, and I'm glad I did.I learned very quickly that a little of this pepper powder goes a LONG way!The heat and flavor it imparts to food is amazing.Sprinkle some (carefully)! on eggs, burritos, cheeseburgers, pinto beans, etc. for a whole new experience and flavor.I'll be ordering more of the Carolina Reaper. Highly Recommended.
