Replacement Funnel
I’m writing because several people have damaged the flimsy funnel and have problems replacing it.I took a Bialetti funnel from my old Bialetti 3-cup cafetera and put it in my new Alessi 3-cup Chipperfield design cafetera . It fit very well, maybe not totally perfect but very, very close. Then I put the Alessi funnel in my old Bialetti. Again, this one also fit very well. I did NOT make coffee with switched funnels. These aren’t super high precision items. My guess is the Bialetti will work fine in the Alessi, and vice-versa. If you need to replace your funnel, try the Bialetti. Let me know if it works ok.Other people have wondered where this Alessi cafetera is made. Alessi doesn’t make it obvious but they do put a sticker on the bottom of the box. It says “Made in Vietnam”Still other people complain about their cafetera discoloring from heat. Let me say that you do not use high heat with these pots! The flame diameter should match the pot bottom’s diameter. No bigger! You’ll scorch the coffee as well as damage the pot. Go easy. Finally, when the pot starts making a spitting noise the coffee is done. Turn the flame off immediately! That’s all you’re getting so don’t wait for the last bubble. Otherwise, again, scorched coffee. Not worth the extra milliliter. The spitting noise is a little softer on the Alessi but still audible. One more thing: these are aluminum-they will NOT do well in the dishwasher. They’ll turn an awful gray and look like poison. The good thing is that you DO NOT want them super clean anyway. The coffee oils form a barrier between the (mildly reactive) aluminum pot and the coffee you’re going to drink. I think this reduces the amount (if any) aluminum you’d get from a squeaky-clean pot. The coffee from an oily pot also tastes better.

Well made, Made in Vietnam
Despite this product proudly flying the "Made in Italy" banner on the product page, the product is actually Made in Vietnam. It appears well made.

Design improvement!
With this model, the Alessi has made an important design improvement to stovetop espresso pots. The handle points diagonally away from the pot and this avoids having the end of the handle melt from the heat of a burner. I have burned the plastic handle on many of the Bialetti-style, stovetop, espresso pots. Their handles point inward toward the pot, which places the bottom of the handle right over the heat source. When I travel, I take a stovetop espresso pot with me. Depending on the type of stove top, gas or electric, and how the flame is adjusted, the handle on the Bialetti often melted. With the Alessi, you still have to be careful to place the handle side of the pot away from the heat source, but there is much less chance of melting it. Besides all of the above, the Alessi looks great and makes great espresso. There are of course many variables that change the taste of espresso. I use pre-ground, high quality, Arabica, French roast beans and I think the result is better than the majority of what is available from espresso made with high end machines. I am also glad that Alessi offers an aluminum espresso pot. The stainless steel choices look nice, and cost more, but they do not get hot enough to make a great cup of espresso. This is the pot for me!

Good to the Last Drop
Making espresso using the Alessi Mocha Espesso coffee maker is my 3rd coffee making adventure. The first adventure was about Instant Coffee and the second adventure explored French Press. What confuses me about this coffee maker is that is states that it makes 6 cups. Apparently these must be itty bitty baby cups because it hold exactly 1 1/3 cups or 316 mL of water in the bottom vessel, which is not a lot. My coffee mug holds about 2 actual cups. Anyway, pardon my ignorance if espresso cups use some other form of measurement. The coffee maker itself is attractively designed, easy to clean and works effectively. 5 Stars is what I rate the Alessi Moka Espresso coffee maker.

Not worth it!!!
I bought an Alessi coffee maker (which is not cheap at all), via Amazon. Came perfect but 1 month later the lid wouldn't close anymore and the coffee leaks everywhere.I tried to call and they don't answer the phone, I sent an email on March 14th, and believe me... they only answered me on May 24th (more than 2 months later).I asked if they had any tech support I could take to fix it. The attendant summarized by saying that I bought it through amazon so I should solve it with Amazon.I explained that it didn't come broken, so Amazon had nothing to do with it because it was a manufacturing defect. But they said they couldn't do anything. That is, I believe that they do not have any technical assistance in USA.The material of the coffee maker is very good. But the after sales service is terrible, so I will not buy any more Alessi products.

Well designed
The biggest problem I always have with single cup Moka pots is that the handle melts. This Moka pot is cleverly designed with the handle leading out away from the pot instead of hugging it. Therefore it tolerates heating on the gas stove extremely well. It uses great materials and makes a fantastic cup of espresso. The one drawback is that the base is narrower that it appears in the pictures which makes it not fit quite as snugly on my gas range, but that's not that big of deal for me. The spout design is fantastic. I haven't spilled a drop pouring from this one - which is more than I can say for most other brands. Well done Alessi! Great design! You won over a long-time Bialetti customer.

Beautiful and well made
Works really well, with a more precision thread on the water chamber so it's easier to open. Only complaint is that the lid could be tighter. It gets knocked closed easily while the lit on the Bialetti stays open. Otherwise a well made moka pot.

Gutes Design, gute Verarbeitung, guter Kaffee.

Buena a precio sobreelevado.
