Great read!
A very fun book. Not the first thing I've read about the French Revolution or about Haiti during this time. A very enjoyable book.

A great book looking at the motivational factors for one of my favorite authors of all time... Great stuff!

This will change your perspective of the history of France and especially the French Revolution.
The Black Count is a great read. A fast paced, well researched telling of a relatively unknown story of a forgotten hero. I am amazed that the anti-slavery and inclusion of the French Revolution gave hope and opportunity; and then renewed racism of Napoleon’s Empire buried this man’s incredible accomplishments.

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO HARD!
Amazing! It was like an adventure movie in book form. So many twists, turns and reversals... it also changed how I thought about history. I recommend this book without reservations.

A great read
As a American of Haitian extraction it was a given I would read this book. I was blown away by the in depth research the author did. I angered that racism buried this great mans accomplishment. I deeply proud that this man was the patriarch of such an distinguished family. I suggest this to all Haitians.

Not my kind of interesting book!
It was so full of history and names and dates, I found it hard to follow the story line.
