Vogelzang US Stove BK100E/BSK1000 Barrel Stove Kit

I purchased this kit to create a barrel stove for outdoor use. I have converted mine into a water heater/pool heater and it has been working very well. The kit comes with the cast iron door, legs, and rear vent collar. It is well built and the kit contained all of the mounting hardware I needed. This stove could be used to heat a barn, garage, cabin, or any other structure and with a 55 gallon steel drum can kick out quite a bit of heat!I have a video of the assembly here - http://youtu.be/k6ztN_lGnGc

this kit is awesome!!! easy to put together and works great, when i was building mine i put the larger bung hole at the bottom for extra air draft, the dampner come in the collar also, during assembly somehow i lost a door pin, after calling them to buy one, they sent me one free!!! because of that great customer service iam sold 100%, the excedded my expectations!!!

Had these stoves on the farm growing up. They were a great way to heat large drafty areas for cheap.But...I purchased and assembled the kit to heat my 24x30 detached garage. As I was shopping for the flue parts I was informed that the insurance company might not allow this. Sure enough, my insurance agent said not only was it not allowed, a wood burning stove of any brand/kind would have made my current homeowners policy null and void in a fire event, even though it was in a detached garage. Kinda scary when ya think about it. Some companies have different policies that may allow these under their criteria. Just make sure to discuss this with your agent and they show you in your policy that it is covered.I'm not knocking the kit. It's a great product that I'd really love to have. I just want everyone to be safe and sound.

Draft control is taking me some time to get used to and figure out. I mounted the door pretty low on my barrel in an attempt to get the draft under the fire. I also got a grate that probably belongs in a fire place to lift the fire up. Until I got a good layer of ashes on the floor of the barrel, I could put the fire out just by closing the door even with the draft and damper fully open. The kit itself seems well enough made, is simple to put together, and a really cheap way to heat the shop. I've got no complaints truthfully.

Got the job done however the castings had some very sharp edges to them and some flashing. You could tell there was little to no processing of these parts after they were made. Just cast and thrown in the box. Some of the hardware that was included was equally poor quality - threads not fully cut and screw heads full of flashing. Took an extra hour or so to assemble my double barrel stove just because I had to waste time filing down all these parts so they'd operate smoothly and not cut my hands during assembly!

I use this barrel and kit to heat my garage, it works great!!! sometimes my numb nutts brother comes in and stuffs it, and it gets up there in temp like 800 degrees,[ that's all my temp gun gos up to] never have a problem very well built, I will be buying the double barrel kit for my other building soon

i just recieved this vogelzang model #BK100E , first off it says barrel stove all over it and the box it came in.....not Voglezang ! Right out of the box..quality is poor at best , weak door closure sure to be an issue !! , collar for smoke pipe is warped and does not fit the barrel as it should. legs are crooked as hell and does not even come close to the proper fitment for the barrel..this is nothing but one terribly made piece of junk from China !and trying to return it is not going to be easy , as it appears to come from some second or third party selleryou have to go to some odd site called ""Ant"" site even has a logo that looks like an Ant head and fill out a form , and then click on Agree which seems strange , then they apparently mull it over for a day or two before they decide weather to refund your money...........minus the return shipping charge !!DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT !!!

Careful not to buy this item online as it can damage so easy and who wants to pay to ship it back. It is cheap metal. leg was broke and they do not sit well on the barrel. Better off making it. They do not sell individual parts, over priced and can get this at tractor place minus 20.00. The door itself was perfect. Guess that is what ya pay 50.00 for
