small footprint, nice n quiet
I was looking for a quiet fan for my bedroom to replace a Holmes floor stand 16" fan which was super quiet for its size. While this little Lasko 507 does not oscillate it is nice and quiet. The ability to position it facing towards the ceiling to blow the air around the room is perfect. It doesn't slowly slide out of position. The power and speed dial is a bit awkwardly placed on the back of the fan so if you have it pointing straight up you have to simply flip the position of the fan so you can reach the switch. Also a bit odd is the power and speed selector starts at 0 - off, then 2 - fast, then 1 - slow. The fan does not come apart for cleaning. The instructions say to use a vacuum to clean the dust from the blades. My vacuum doesn't have a small enough attachment to get in there.Oddities aside, this all plastic fan is a great device. Powerful enough for me and my bedroom with just a small amount of white noise that doesn't keep me awake at night.

Great Fan
This is a great little fan. Quiet and pushes a lot of air. My only nit pick is that there are only 2 speeds. Other than that, I love it.

Quiet and Works Great, When It Works
Okay, it's only a $20 fan. We aren't expecting miracles. And at first, I thought this fan was great. Then it seemed to develop what others had described, being it would randomly speed up and slow down. The big issue when it speeds up is that it disrupts the laminar flow of air over the blades. This causes it to A) get a lot louder and vibrate and B) move nearly no air. Not exactly ideal. It will start and stop this behaviour seemingly without any external cause such as run time, line votage, air temperature or humidity. I really want to like this fan, but frankly I'm disappointed that I'll probably end up replacing it with another make and model.Edit: One year on, I have solved the vibration and low air flow issue by disassembling and cleaning accumulated dust out of the works and off the fan blade. I can't say for sure if it was the removal of accumulated dust or taking the fan blades off and putting them back on that actually fixed the problem, but it now produces consistent, quiet operation and good air flow.

Nice breeze for a small room
This is a great fan for the money if you have a small space. Our baby daughter's bedroom is over the garage and is 3-4 degrees hotter than the other rooms upstairs. Not much we can do about that, but I wanted something strong enough to circulate the air so it at least felt cooler. This does the trick even on the lowest setting. I have it on the floor pointed up at an angle and it stays in place just fine. It doesn't make much noise and is very light weight. Almost so light weight that it seems cheap at first. When you turn it on though it does seem powerful for its size. We haven't even used the highest setting as the other ones are strong enough. Definitely recommend for a small bedroom or office.

That air quietly
On the high setting it's so quiet you can hardly tell it's running!

Weird air flow.
Been talking to Cutomer service. Dont think they understand Tried different ways butbtheybjust cut and paste same thing. Like is it plugged in. But if you want to run it minus ftont guard it works. But look elsewhereIts been doing this tge day i took itvout of box. You can see fan turning normally but no air coming out front back or sides. Yhen after acwhile you can hear fan get quiet the the air blows out. Then it stops. Fan keeps turning no air Then air comes out. Its a fan. Plug it in socket turn on. Poof air. No resets just lo hi off but when I remove front guard. The fam blows out fine. I took off front guard using it that way. Air has not stopped blowing. Think there’s a suctioning problem in design that captures air in between the front and back guards. Coukd be to thick of plastic that restricts air flow. Like a air lock. I have used fans for 50 yrs. all the stuff you keep sending does not cover problem. I’d put it back together to show your design people but i kept fan cut out the parts i need to tighten it. And threw out front fan guard. No power surges no resetting since you cant reset this. Its still new not dirty. Blade is clean. Socket is normal voltage. Lije i said ftont guard off. Air has been non stop. Front guard on. Air stops coming out while fan is on high. Just stops blowing out. The sll of a sudden it blows out. Cant think of any other way to describe this. But has nothing to do with the lists of things to do. Tell design people change the blade guards to stop restricting air flow. Will keep it without front guard. Been working fine with out it. No kids or pets can get to blade. Will post my findings on review. Thanks for your help.Only way it works. No cover. If you put it on. Air magically stops flowing thru. Spins blade no air felt. Created like a suctioning affect to block air. Turn it off then on works. The poof nothing. Very bad design.

When it works its quiet and moves a lot of air, but mine died after a month...
In the beginning, this was a nice small quiet fan. The low setting wasn't particularly low, but it was fairly quiet. ...and then it wasn't. At present, it is extremely loud and barely moves any air, but then suddenly about every 20 minutes or so it gets whisper quiet and starts blowing a ton of air, and then gets loud and low again after about 30 seconds. Probably a balance issue, but for $20 its not worth bothering shipping back, so I just picked up a different fan. I actually might have gone for 2nd go around with this one, but even when it worked well, the low wasn't low enough for me. I'm not saying avoid this, I may have just gotten a bad fan, there's always going to be that 1-5% of items that just fail in the first year, and I may have just been unlucky. Its light, it moves a good amount of air with two settings on a knob on the back and the angle adjust works well enough, though it does tend to loosen and then tilt up every few days and you have to tighten it back up again.
