🎶 Elevate Your Sound: The Dan Bau Awaits!
The Dan Bau is a Vietnamese stringed instrument, in the form of a monochord (one-string) zither.Playing: The dan bau technique appears relatively simple at first glance, but actually requires a great deal of precision. The fifth finger of the musician's right hand rests lightly on the string at one of seven commonly used nodes, while the thumb and index finger pluck the string using a long plectrum. The nodes are the notes of the first seven overtones, or flageolets, similar to guitar harmonics at the string positions above the octave (1/2), the perfect fifth (2/3), the perfect fourth (3/4), the just major third (4/5), the just minor third (5/6) and two tones not present on the Western musical scale: the septimal minor third (7/6) and the septimal whole tone (8/7). With the left hand, the player pushes the flexible rod toward the instrument with the index finger to lower the pitch of the note, or pushes it away from the instrument with the thumb to raise the pitch. This technique is used to play notes not available at a node, or to add vibrato to any note.

The Bau You're Looking For
Wonderful Dan Bau for the price!Mine came wrapped in authentic Vietnamese newspaper. The body construction is strong, given its portability. Bend rod seems sturdy. Roughly 108cm in length.I had to make two adjustments to mine to make it more playable:-Move the bell assembly up to about 6cm from the bottom. When mine came, the bell was too low, and deep bends were impossible. Wrap electrical tape around this spot on the bend rod, to keep the bell from moving downward. When tightening the string, make sure it is affixed in the middle of the bell.-File down and put abrasive tape on the bottom of the instrument on either end. The stock construction is very slick, and will slide around on carpet. Also I found it helpful to indicate the location of the harmonics with masking tape. That's it! Tune to middle C and you're ready to go.

Arrived broken!
I don't know if this only happens to my purchase or not, but the item is broken when I open the mail box. There is a huge crack on the body and the tuning module is even broken into two parts! I am now returning the item and hope I can get a refund. Good luck to me...
