Insights into Vedanta - Tattwabodha Paperback – February 2, 2005

Kind of an arcane little scripture, but that is not the fault of the translator. I read this while watching a class on-line where the instructor elucidated many of the Sanskrit words that have more than one meaning or have a idiomatic meaning. I don't know, unless you are quite well versed, if you can understand Tattva Bodha without a teacher to help you.That said, I liked this translation because it had the Sanskrit included so we could refer to it, in addition to English translation. This is a very good book to read if you liked the Gita or the sutras of Patanjali.

A scientific mind needs scientific explanation for everything. This book on Vedanta, although based on ancient teachings, has a scientific tone. The author starts with simple concepts and slowly builds up. I had to read every page twice to comprehend the knowledge in the book (sometimes even more than twice). But Vedanta is so vast and deep that knowing it takes several lifetimes. This book does its magic by explaining concepts in simple language. The author's language is very personable and engaging. For beginners this book is fantastic. It does its job by developing curiosity and desire to learn more in the reader. I am already looking for detailed literature from the author (Swami Sunirmalananda).
