Q: How to get rid of the smell? i've had this teepee for 5 months now, and it has an awful strong smell. I've tried washing it and airing it

I just let mine sit. Left it completely alone. It aired itself out and that "new weird what the heck is this" smell is gone now. It took a few weeks but it's fine now.

Q: would this be age appropriate and enough room for a 6 year old?

Hi Amanda, I believe a 6 year old would love to have this Teepee, I guess it would depend on how rambunctious the 6 year old is, it is not so sturdy that it would take a beating as it is only held together by the 4 poles that go through the corners of the cover and ties at the top. I was able to climb inside it with my 2 year old grandson and I am not a small person, so I think there will be plenty of room for a six year old and a friend. My daughter put a large pillow and some toys and books inside it for my grandson to sit inside and play or look at his books. It is a cool alternative to a Blanket Fort kids are always building.

Q: Is there a way to hang a lantern from the Center inside?

I don't think so. I gave these as gifts to our grandchildren.

Fantastic value

My 5 year old daughter is absolutely thrilled with this! Fantastic quality and value...there is a little bit of a funny smell on the fabric for the first hour or 2 after opening but has pretty much gone one day later..So pleased I bought this!
