Great when soldering isn’t possible
This Sharkbite backflip preventer is great. Meets the requirements of our local water department. And can be install without having to remove the water meter to solder when the stops won’t hold. Cut the pipe straight. Remove the burrs with a file or sand cloth. Slide it on paying attention to the flow direction. Get it right the first time. I find these tough to remove with just the small removal clips. So do it once, correctly.

Works great. Surprisingly inexpensive compared to threaded or sweat-on options
Ordered the 3/4" unit. Works like a charm. The city I live in requires backflow prevention for our city water connection. This was nearly $200 cheaper than any of the more labor intensive sweat-on or threaded backflow/principal options. It has true sharkbite fittings on it AND it's serviceable! You can replace the check valves if needed later on. Pretty good stuff. Our home is tee'd off of the main city supply line (we're not in a neighborhood) so we have VERY high water pressure. Hasn't caused any issues so far. Very happy.

A true SharkBite product with SharkBite fittings on both ends, serviceable after inline installation
Used to protect household potable water from backflow from planters on a deck ABOVE the height of the dual check valve. This cannot be done by a pressure vacuum breaker (PVB), as they can only protect from backflow ingress BELOW the height of the PVB. (Dual check valves are also less expensive than PVBs.) The unit can be opened and the individual plastic check valves removed for cleaning or replacement even after the unit is installed inline; only minimal play in the piping is required, such as that provided by a nearby rotatable SharkBite elbow. Caution: Some sellers list other dual check valves as SharkBite valves, even though those other valves have standard pipe threads rather than SharkBite fittings on both ends. Check the product model number; it needs to be BF13434SB.
