I have recently bought this case and used the vegan leather version on a ipad 4 for 3 years.Don't bother with the cheaper JETech cases and the likes, they won't last for more than a couple weeks. The lap will soften a little over time, or can be bent a little so that the gap disappears.The lap seems to be made of some sort of cardboard which can soften over time. After 3 years it's still in reasonably hard so I wouldn't worry too much about it.The grooves for horizontal orientation will slowly wear out and the ipad will be less stable after a few years.Overall great case for the price, worth every penny. You can buy better cases for a lot more but this is the best affordable case for your ipad

This is my second SPECK Fit Folio this year. I needed a replacement by August. I really like that the case is not bulky and I really like some of the patterns. I am not a super heavy ipad user and I don't drop my IPAD, so I was a bit surprised when the parts that clip to the IPAD were already breaking off. The "benefit" of making the folio a stand isn't a bennie at all, it always collapses. I reordered because I like the feel of the product and how it allows me to easily slip my IPAD into a larger purse without worrying about scratching the screen.
