It was great for a tenner.
UPDATE: price has doubled from what I paid. Now preposterously overpriced. Read the rest of the review with that in mind.TEN POUNDS. Ten pounds. For a working cajon. Let me say it again: ten British pounds. Now let’s not pretend that anyone’s expecting acoustic perfection from this collapsible cardboard contraption. Also, it’s worth mentioning I made some modifications (see pictures - the snare/rattle is supplied glued on, fell off the first time I played it, and I reattached it with wingnuts and slightly muted the loose wires with some velcro I had lying around). But you know what? I’m extremely happy with my purchase. It booms pretty well when you hit the middle, it snaps okay when you hit the edge with the snare, it has enough volume to carry through a noisy pub, it holds up to 200kg (!) beer-bellied players, and it costs TEN POUNDS. Even when someone ruins it with spilled beer, I’ll have had a few dozen open mics out of it and had a chance to see whether cajon is for me.There are much better sounding cajons. But really not noticeably for less than about 60 quid; they’re mostly basic plywood boxes up to there. It bangs, it rattles (mute that snare a bit though or you’ll get a looooong rattle) and it’s TEN EFFING POUNDS.No brainer.Oh, and it packs flat! Not many cajons do that.

Great box to learn by
Great box to learn by. Didn't expect it to sound too much like a wooden Cajon so wasn't disappointed.Bought it to learn rhythms, patterns and control before going into a music store to buy a proper one.Anyone with kids of the "That's awesome! I want one!!!" type generation can buy one of these so they can learn whether that's real or a passing fad.

Before buying a real one.
Had a problem with the first one but it was replaced VERY fast and without fuss; excellent service. As a drum it is ideal to see if you will stick with it before committing to a proper Cajon. Obviously it sounds very little like the real thing, but it is not meant too. It is for practising technique and dedication before splashing out.
