Anna (Janine Turner), a beautiful young woman, allows her brother to arrange her marriage. She travels west to marry Daniel (Patrick Bergin), a man whom she has never met, but on the way is taken prisoner by the Sioux Indians. Their leader, the handsome warrior Tokalah (Michael Greyeyes), is set to kill Anna, until he realizes she is the woman who has come to him repeatedly in his dreams. He spares Anna's life and she continues to travel to Fort Hays where she meets and marries Daniel, the ordinary man her brother has chosen for her. After only one night with her new husband, Anna and her friend Sarah (Jean Louisa Kelly) are taken hostage by a tribe of Sioux warriors led by Tokolah. They are forced to live like the Sioux, learning their language, dressing like them and adapting to their customs. During this time Tokalah and Anna spend together, they give in to their emotions and, regardless of the consequences, they fall in love. After a year, the U.S. Cavalry and the Indians are at war and the women are rescued by General Custer. But Anna's heart still longs to be with Tokalah. Will she choose to follow her heart or obey the rules of convention?

Love this late 90s tale of love in the Wild West
I am a fan of Michael Greyeyes and have never seen this film. Decided to buy it because I know Greyeyes is a fantastic actor. I loved the movie but wish it had been more of a miniseries so that the relationship between Anna and Tokala could have been more fully developed. It did have a romance book vibe but was also very well filmed, the story was good and the costumes and sets were realistic. The plight of the Native Americans was well shown as well as the fierceness and warrior spirit. The conflicts between the two cultures was touched on but there was not enough screen time to devote to the issue. I'm happy with the movie...just wish it had been a lot longer...a series or three.

Good Old Fashioned Love Story
If you are sucker (like me) for a star-crossed, impossible love story, then this movie is for you. Set in the Old West, back in Custer days, a young Lakota warrior kidnaps a white woman that he has seen in vision quest. Lots of obstacles to overcome in the building relationship (she is married for one thing), but after months in each other's company and the woman adjusting to the culture, she cannot help but fall in love with the warrior. Michael Greyeyes provides sufficient eye candy for any discerning female He is younger than I have ever seen him in this movie, but still totally gorgeous. The woman playing his love interest seems older than him, but there is no mistaking the chemistry between the two. This movie was on par with most others made during this time period. I was particularly impressed with the Native American actors. Their costumes were authentic looking, even their horses wore paint, and they each and all handsome individuals. There, of course, is tragedy involved. Impossible love stories guarantee that. All in all, I really enjoyed the movie and will watch it again. The format and quality of the DVD is not remastered, but it is good enough to draw and keep my attention despite me being spoiled to watching movies in Blue Ray.

Top 5 Favorite
I feel as though anything I write will not eloquently give this movie enough praise. I have purchased it 3 times (once for myself and twice for gifts), so far. It is now in my top 5 favorites movies. I love the story and that it is based on true events. I know that the real Anna Morgan didn't have the happy ending we see here. I truly hope that she felt that loved by 'Tokalah' while they were together in real life though.Janine Turner was great in "Northern Exposure". I loved seeing this side of her. It is a true shame that Michael Greyeyes is not even listed as a main actor on the previous page. He makes the entire movie and is beyond beautiful in it. Handsome doesn't do him justice, he is beautiful. Do yourself a favor and research/watch all his movies. He is so underrated. There are many more great actors and actresses in this film. The 1880's are my favorite time period. I read and watch all Native American/Western Historical Romances I can from this era. "Stolen Women, Captured Hearts" is definitely at the top. If you are on the fence about buying, go for it!
