Everyone needs this information!
Well written book. Easy to understand. Everyone needs to use this book whether you have thyroid issues or not. If you have thyroid issues, doctors rarely check for iodine levels. Instead they put you on a toxic pill when all one needs is an iodine supplement. The dentist told me my thyroid seemed a bit swollen to go get it checked out. After reading this book I immediately put myself on iodine and the little lump that was felt in my thyroid is now gone. I feel better on the iodine. The author also recommends taking selenium with some other supplements as well.

Tolles Buch mit interessanten Backgrounds
Ein tolles Buch das viele Hintergründe zum Thema Jod und Jodmangel beleuchtet und auch die Zusammenhänge genau beschreibt. Auch bei Hashimoto. Ich wende die Jodeinnahme seit eineinhalb Monaten nach Dr. Brownsteins Protokoll an und es geht mir super gut. Endlich keine Schmerzen mehr in der Brust und mehr Energie. Bei Hashimoto wprde ich es aber etwas vorsichtiger angehen und auf eine glutenfreie Ernöhrubg achten und zuerst den Vitamin D Spiegel ausgleichen, sowie zusötzlich Spirulina nehmen zum Ausleuten der Schwermetalle die bei der Jodeinnahme auch freigesetzt werden können. Und Anfangs hatte ich auch etwas Entgiftungssymptome wie Müdigkeit, Unruhe, schlecht schlafen und Kopfschmerzen was sich nach 1 Woche gegeben hat. Aber diese Symptome kenne ich schon von der Schwermetallausleitung.

A must-read for anyone suffering from thyroid problems
An excellent book, a must-read for anyone suffering from thyroid problems or any other iodine deficiency issues in my opinion. Controversial, yes, but well sourced, so you can do your own research. Poorly indexed, which is a pity as this is a book that I will want to refer to again and again, but still worth five stars as it has been so helpful to me and has, I believe, helped me to avoid having to take thyroid drugs for life.

Well worth reading for anyone trying to improve their health
Although not particularly well written, this informative book is full of very good and useful (if not controversial) information.Based on Dr Brownstein's studies I have increased my iodine intake daily and have noticed many benefits. I am convinced it is one of the missing links on the path to excellent health. Thank you Dr Brownstein!

Life Changing
I found out about this book from a member on the ThyCa website. This has been nothing sort of a blessing. I am using 100mg (as suggested) for three months and will reduce dosage to a "maintenance" dose of 50mg. I no longer drink nothing but non-chlorinated and fluoride ridden water. As soon as my toothpaste is finished I'm getting one (from my local health food store) w/o fluoride. I try not to eat pasta & bread out in restaurants and I've been making my own bread and using King Arthur's flour (which is never brominated) at home. If I do eat out I will make sure and wait a significant amount of time after taking the iodine supplementation to ensure my body has absorbed it. I also use pink himalayan salt when cooking. I make sure and get my B-12 shots, take 3000mg of vitamin c, a multivitamin, selennium (which I eat a [I'm sure I should eat more but I don't like it] Brazil nut per day) and magnesium. I can feel the brain fog lifting. I feel my energy returning to me....I'm not at 100% yet but I feel as if I'm getting there. I'm trying to make sure I drink enough water but I'm not much of a drinker...so I have to push myself everyday.I've made lifestyle and eating changes (for the better, i hope) and I did the 24-iodine upload and was deficient. Keep in mind the idoine taste horrific...I add it to my coffee/tea/juice to mask the taste. You can take iodoral instead via tablet (which I bought and haven't used yet). I think people close to me see the changes. The best part is becoming mentally alert again. I felt so incompetent and frustrated when I couldn't remember thing or missed the simpliest thing at work I never missed before. I highly suggest it. As with anything you should tell your physician what you're taking/doing. And the high dosage recommended in the book and repeated NUMEROUS TIMES is NOT TO BE USED LONG TERM! That is the key, the 100mg of iodine is for THREE months ONLY, the purpose is to flood your system and kick out all the toxic halides in the cell receptors. You will have some side effects if you don't do the recommended two week prep before taking the iodine. I didn't do the prep and reduced the dosage to half and then after the symptoms went away I upped it back to the 100mg and will reduce when the three months is up. Those are the key things to remember. Hope this review helps. =)
