Amazing stretch for better alignment
Years ago, working as a nurse, I remember patients being put into traction for back pain. This back stretch bench is able to do something similar. I'll admit it took some getting used to and changes in how I used it but I now can't imagine not having it. Just a short time of stretching seems to realign my back, improve my posture, and eliminate discomfort. Lying down on the bench before stretching isn't a problem, but getting back up afterward is a little more challenging. After trying a couple of different methods, I have now found what works for me. I only gave 3 stars for ease of use and comfort, but that is not to imply it detracts from the bench. It took some experimenting to find the best option. Initially I didn't use the cervical strap, but eventually found that using it enhanced the stretch. And, for sure it isn't comfortable, but that is what encourages the relaxation that helps loosen muscles to relieve the tension. My husband originally found this bench to use for his back. Now we both use it and got one for our son.

Works great. I modified my stretch.
I have been mostly focused on my upper back and neck. This machine is great for the low back. I felt wasn't getting a deep enough stretch on the neck end. So I adjusted the machine. I simply set it to a taller setting than I was supposed to. I am 5ft 10.5 and I set it to like 6ft 2 / 6ft 4. Getting into the machine, I already have some tension on the neck strap. I then set the arm bars off to the side. The arm bars are great when I want it to function on my low back more. So not using the arm bars, and set to 4 to 6 inches above my height. I then stretch it to max. I still feel I need a slight deeper stretch. However, after a few uses it did seem to add some space to my discs, less pinched nerves, and the inflammation has gone down in the area. I just wish there was an adjustment for the bungie chord on the neck strap so it doesn't stretch so far out. The bungie only allows for x amount of tension. About 10 to 15% more would be perfect for me. However the machine has helped immensely.

Amazing
This thing is amazing. Ive been suffering with lumbar disc degeneration and herniation which has greatly impeded my life for the last several years. As a last ditch effort before resorting to surgery I began seeing a neuro kinesiologist who recommended this to supplement his treatments. I’ve been using it twice a day for 20minutes and my back hasn’t felt this great in years. I was actually able to do a 6mile hike the other day!! I do wish it was designed a little differently tho, I think it was designed for men. I’m a 5’7” female and the arm pit rollers at the smallest setting are still way too wide. They hit out inside my biceps, not my arm pits. I think the back board overall would need to be narrower for a lot of women. I wish they would make that version of adjustment bc it’s probably even more amazing if it fits you. Also it’s a bit difficult to use if you have a butt, but despite those things you can still manage and it is highly effective. Definitely do NOT use the release lever to undo the traction it snaps back very fast and you can be injured. Just take your arms and feet out and stretch your bent knees side to side for a bit until your back acclimates and then release the lever when you are off the machine. Super easy set up, good quality. Highly recommend.

Works, but needs improvement.
Bought this at the recommendation of a couple of health professionals I interact with, because it fairly reasonably priced and I really needed a lot of help physically with what this could potentially offer. Well, it helps a little, with caveats. PROS: - It is built fairly solid. - The neck halter works, and has an adjustable bungee with it. (Considerations in the cons) - It has cervical traction too, which is a MUST for any table with this similar design. Just having ankle grips and arm rests means you only get probably hip and lower traction, which is useless for the spine mostly. (Considerations in the cons) - The crank mechanism is so much better than the wheels, for tightening. CONS: - The elastic bungee is much too weak to deliver proper cervical traction. While not supposed to be going over 25LBS for cervical traction, I do't feel that this gets even close. - There is an excessive amount of force on the ankles and feet. People with ankle/feet problems are probably best staying away from this style of traction. - "Ergonomics" in this position is horribly flat. Ankle pullers need to be able to be positioned higher. This would help alleviate excessive pressure where it's trying to traction, and deliver a better, more effective traction overall. - Arm pins mostly just get in the way. They would be better used as hip pins, to lock the hip in place and actually get a good spinal traction, if the bungee were stronger. This is mostly an ankle/knee and sometimes hip traction table. It does very little for the spine, at least for me. Some minor tweaks to design here and there would result in it being much more usable and effective. It's still good, probably for some people that really need just a gentle spinal traction. A "sitting position" traction device would be much more effective for spine, so long as it secured the cervical as well. I couldn't get my spine to traction much at all with this, probably due to muscular tension that constantly plagues me.

Incredible stretching power
This is capable of some extreme stretching, so make sure you don't overdo it. I considered an inversion table, but didn't like the idea of hanging upside down, and I have limited space. This unit can be stowed away easily and is very well built. I like to use it to stretch my lower back, sometimes with the help of some foam blocks for a more targeted stretch. Really helps the lumbar and I can get a good mid back stretch too with some repositioning. The cervical traction is a nice feature and is easy to get in and out of. Trying to use it with consistency to get the best results. Not a replacement for professional chiropractic or physical therapy, but a great supplement that you can do any time from home.

This bench is a major improvement from the previous version. It relieves pain, muscle tension and decompresses your back. This is a must have for all back problems. ITs a chiropractor and physiotherapist all in one.
