Cheap solution for multiple devices
Not enough ports on your router?Multiple devices needing a wired connection due to poor WiFi?Tried powerline adapters but disappointed with the speed and latency?Get a network switch.I have previously bought one of these brilliant little devices because of unstable WiFi connections and simply needing more ethernet ports. Now I'm doing it all over again because of a new ISP and the (crappy) router needs to be downstairs due to the fibre optic connection. After being driven mad by WiFi issues (good old fashioned thick brick walls) and the poor speed and high latency of powerline adapters, I simply decided to run a long length of flat Cat 7 under the stairway carpet through to the router downstairs. This affordable little network switch has enabled me to connect my PC, NAS and Audio streamer to the router with a single length of cable. There's nothing to configure, just connect up to 4 devices that you need for your network communications or internet access and connect to your router.Job done. For those who need to configure their network for enhanced security, well you probably already know this isn't the device for your needs. But home office or entertainment users who don't have the foggiest about networks and just want something that's cheap and will literally work the moment you plug it in, then yes, this could be exactly what you need.Be aware that this doesn't support power over ethernet, which may be required for some security cameras, so all your devices must have their own power supply.I can't find any information on added latency, but I can say it beats the snot out of even the best power line adapter as they never even get close to their claimed speed (half is considered good going) and I was suffering a reported 3 seconds (yes seconds, not milliseconds) of when pinging to BBC as a latency test.It was up to 8 seconds with the old adapters I had.At the time of writing, I have yet to repeat the test, but I can say everything has sped up noticeably. The one proper analysis I have found confirms speed is pretty much as claimed and that power draw is very low indeed.Just remember that performance is affected by temperature and the chipset is passively cooled, so place it away from radiators, direct sunlight and other sources of heat if possible.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – Simple, Reliable and Completely Plug-and-Play
Really happy with the TP-Link TL-SG105S. I've had absolutely no issues with it, and it does exactly what I wanted from a basic Gigabit Ethernet switch.Setup couldn't really be much easier. Connect the power, plug in your Ethernet cables and it simply works. There's no complicated configuration or software to mess around with, making it ideal if you just need to expand a single Ethernet connection to several wired devices. The metal casing feels sturdy and well made, and the compact size means it doesn't take up much room wherever you decide to put it.For networking equipment like this, reliability is probably the biggest compliment I can give it. I plugged everything in and haven't needed to think about it since.Simple, compact, plug-and-play and zero problems. Exactly what a network switch should be. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great value, great product, easy to use, and just works!
This is a plug and play device - nothing to do but plug it in, and it worked first time. Purchased to expand network connectivity for a new sales office, setting it up meant putting two screws in the wall under one of the desks, plugging the supplied power adaptor into the device and the wall, and plugging in a network cable between the device and the nearest network port. It was instantly recognised, and we still had 15 ports left to use for phones and computers, which is more than sufficient for a four person sales team. The device can be wall mounted or surface mounted, and somes with adhesive feet which are useful for either type of mounting. It is totally silent in operation, gives full gigabit transfer speeds, is stupidly easy to use, and at less than £50 when I bought it provides a great solution at a bargain price.

Fast, consistent and easy to install. Not quite 5 stars tho.....
Over the years I have always enjoyed using TP-Link products. They have seemed to offer great value for money without compromising functionality. They also tend to last as well..!These five port metal housed switches are so well made I can only imagine that they would survive the toughest of environments. For me it was worth paying the small difference in price to have the metal cased version over that of the plastic.I have included three photos of these V5 five port metal switches. The first photo shows four of the five ports used to connect to devices and then the fifth port to connect to the LAN.The second photo shows the five ports connected and then the rear of the switch where the power supply connects. The third photo shows the throughput over the LAN with three of these switches connected.Of course the actual throughput will vary with factors other than just the switches deciding the overall sustained transfer speeds. For me I get sustained 113MB/sec transfer speeds on single large files and then a reduced speed if there are many small files being sent across the LAN.The theoretical maximum speed is 125MB/sec.The forth photo shows the box they are packaged in, well made and sturdy packaging with a UK based support address. In total I have four of these switches, a fifth on my LAN is an eighth port version. The other type of switch in use is a POE six port Netgear for my CCTV cameras. These five port V5 metal cased switches are a delight to use, robust and solid and they simply work. So why drop a star in the ratings.....The first reason to drop a star is that they don't offer a Yellow light for a 100Mb connection. They do offer the green light for the 1000Mb one, often the green and yellow are on each side of the connected port. This might bother you or not.The other point is the positioning of the power connector. It is on the opposite side to that of the plugged port connections, that means it can never fit up flush to a wall in certain situations as either the front or the back protrude. Aesthetically, for some, it looks "cleaner" if the connections are all facing on the same side. That being said I do have a couple of Netgear 8 port metal switches and they too have the power port on the opposite side to the LAN ports, altho other models that I have do not have that arrangement. If the above bothers you then look elsewhere. So to summarise, these small metal 5 port switches are unmanaged, simply plug and use but no port or speed etc management via a UI, very well made and simply work with a life time warranty.I do recommend these switches and I do hope that you have found this review useful to help with your buying choices.Best wishes

Absolute life saver
This network switch has been a life saver. It was very easy to set up and worked straight away with no complicated installation needed. I just plugged in the Ethernet cables and it did exactly what I needed, giving me extra wired connections without any hassle. The connection has been stable, and I have not noticed any issues with speed or signal quality. It is also small and lightweight, so it is easy to place on a desk or tuck away neatly. For the price, I think it is great value. If you need more Ethernet ports and want something simple that just works, I would definitely recommend it.

Does exactly what you'd expect, perfectly!
Solid construction. Metal case (helps with cooling I believe). Lovely little black (dark grey) box. Ethernet in. Full speed internet out up to 1Gbs spread across each port. I have 1Gbs broadband and downstream of this my PC still gets 950Mbs speed, which is about what I'd get when the PC was plugged directly into the router, but I needed more ports, so I now split through this. Blinking lights make it look like a little box of Christmas.

Lo que esperaba
Difícilmente TPLink te queda mal, es el segundo que compro, muy bien sin problema alguno, construcción metalica que seguramente durara por años.
