Unlike many traditional textbooks on RF and microwave circuit design written mainly for the classroom, the revised RF and Microwave Circuit Design textbook adopts a practical, hands-on approach to quickly introduce students and engineers to this fascinating subject. The author makes extensive use of the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools to illustrate the principles of RF and microwave circuit design and solve close to 100 ADS design examples. The EDA features in the book include ADS Filter Design Guide, Impedance Matching Utility, Electromagnetic Simulation, Simulation Wizard, Smart Components, Transformation Assistant, Tuning, and Optimization. No other textbook uses this many EDA tools. Almost all the subject matters in the book are accompanied by ADS design examples. University students and practicing engineers will find the book both as a potent learning tool and as a reference guide to quickly setup designs using the ADS software. Additionally, in designing complex impedance matching networks, the book develops and frequently uses the MATLAB Script capability that may not be familiar to some engineers and university students. The tectbook marries RF and microwave circuit design with practical examples using the Keysight ADS software. ADS is one of today's most widely used Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software used by the world's leading companies to design ICs, RF Modules and boards in every smart phone, tablet, WiFi routers as well as Radar and satellite communication systems. This book provides the readers a solid understanding of the RF and microwave concepts and components, Smith chart, S-parameters, transmission lines, impedance matching circuits, resonators, filters and amplifiers. More importantly, it details how to use the EDA tools in the analysis and design of RF and microwave circuits in a manner that is practiced in industry. This ensures that the skills learned in this book can be easily and immediately put into practice without any barriers. Review: The Best Book for RF and Microwave Engineers - A MUST HAVE DESK REFERENCE - Summary: I believe this is the best book on RF and Microwave Circuit Design currently (2018) on the market. In my opinion this book has definitely dethroned Pozar's from being the top dog in microwave circuit design. I wish I had this book when I was doing my PhD in RF Engineering as it would have saved me lots of time, stress, money, and agony Pros: => All RF concepts from Transmission Line theory to Cascaded Amplifier Systems and everything in between are explained with enough but not boring details. Other books waste many pages on useless details and intricacies that are of no relevance to today's engineers (Pozar, Maas, Rhode, etc...) => Instead of going into useless details like other books do, every theoretical concept is further explained by using PRACTICAL solved examples in ADS (the go-to RF Circuit simulation software). This makes the book a MUST HAVE DESK REFERENCE for the practicing engineer. => The book teaches new RF Engineers how to proficiently use ADS from the ground up. They can even purchase the solution manual CD that has all the example files and end of chapter exercise solutions. Cons: => Some non-critical typos. => Graphs and plots are not in color. This is just an aesthetic thing though, nothing in terms of information is affected. Review: One of the worst RF books out there. - This book is over priced for something that gives no insight into how RF engineering works. There are a lot of annoying typos. The book itself has no structure the tables and figures are mislabeled half the time and there are a lot of engineering inaccuracies. Please do not buy this product, it is meant to steal your money. Some of the experiments explaining the basics of how RF works in ADS is good and probably not found else where. But do not expect this to be a professional book that has been edited by someone who knows engineering books are written. Most of the knowledge disseminated is practical which is wonderful but extremely surface level with a lot of factual and numerical inaccuracies. If you really want to learn RF engineering in ADS I suggest self experimentation with a text book that has deeper insights.

Very good practical RF design course
There are many books that can be too intimidating as they contain too much information that may not always be immediately useful to a practicing engineer. This book is a hands on book that requires completion of activities in the book to reap its benefits. Each activity is also accompanied by a good amount of theory, ones that are necessary fundamentals. Pros: -Lean practical learning experience -Guaranteed to strengthen your fundamentals in RF -Good explanation on fundamentals that are necessary Potential improvements: -A section on VCO design in ADS -Non linear analysis on amplifiers (how some DC bias configurations affect linearity) -Amplifier design sections didn't come with touchstone files nor were they available easily on the internet but these could be acquired from the Solutions CD My advice on using this book: -Practice all the exercises and make use of tuning function to learn how the some variables affects certain parameters -For those who don't have the Solutions CD to get the S2P files, try the techniques on newer transistors (e.g. NXP, Infineon has spice and s parameters for transistors) -Use real components models (passive and active) and design your own circuit based on the examples to apply your learnings

Awesome book
This is an awesome book. It helped me with all the questions with regards to ADS2021 design of RF filters, PA amplifiers. Very highly recommended.
