This is another fantastic set of earlier Midsomer Murders episodes covering series 5 & 6. The idyllic picturesque county of Midsomer is beautiful and it's houses and villages are stunning. I have loved watching the show all over again and yes there are a couple of episodes that are not as strong as the others but overall they were great. To be honest in a TV series like Midsomer Murders there will always be some weaker episodes which is natural, but they are still enjoyable if nonetheless. A Talent for Life and Death and Dreams in series 6 were my less favourites on this double series pack but other people may disagree. Series 5 has one of John Nettles favourite episodes in it Murder on St Malleys Day about the posh school and the "Pudding Club". Our long history and heritage in this country always seems to be able to bring the best out in filmmakers and producers and they tell some great stories. Nice to see Laura Howard return in series 6 as Barnaby and Joyce's daughter Cully as she seemed to be missing from the last couple of series. Her and DS Troy also get a bit closer too which you knew probably wasn't going to go anywhere much because of her Dad. Joyce as always is a loving doting wife to Barnaby and there are a couple or so episodes where she is more present than usual and has a part in the stories which is nice to see for a change. As always there are a fantastic group of famous actors and actresses that join the regular cast and play their parts brilliantly. Daily village life is played out beautifully along with dark sinister undertones and being a townie myself from Reading, Berkshire which is near to where they film the show, I often wonder what it would be like to live in a village like Midsomer Worthy, Badgers Drift or Upper Warden. I don't think the neighbouring villages near to where I live are as mysterious or intriguing, but you never know!!! Barnaby and DS Troy still have that great onscreen chemistry which is fabulous to watch, but you get the sense now that Troy is growing in his confidence and is sometimes frustrated with his boss. Troy has a great sense of humour sometimes which you probably need every now and again,but Barnaby never seems impressed as he feels there is a time and place for everything. Always the professional is Barnaby which is great they are both like chalk and cheese. There is one episode in series 5 where Barnaby asks Troy to do something which isn't particularly pleasant and then something happens afterwards where Troy feels there is a bit "of what goes around comes around" and takes some kind of pleasure in it. It is a shame this was Daniel Casey's last full series as DS Troy as he will always be my favourite sidekick. Still no subtitles to speak of on this DVD set but the sound quality is quite impressive so did not struggle to hear. Curl up with a pot of tea and enjoy the charming English countryside at its best.

Always loved watching this program, but it seems that when reruns are aired, the episodes are not in order, and episodes are missing on itvx, so am really happy to be able to build up this series and watch in order of series and episode without any being missing.

Great Item.

This was bought for my wife and is great fun to watch. The price of it is ok but I am not happy that this collection stops here. You can get season 7 and 8 etc, but you will find some of the same episodes on them. Something needs to be done here because I for one will NOT buy season 7 as I feel as though I am being "ripped off"....
