Shires Compositi REFLEX Stirrups (691), Shock Absorbent, Colours - Adult (4.75")

The light weight of these stirrups takes some getting used to but I've found fine after the initial adjustment. I was fortunate enough to try the rather more expensive bouncy strirrups in various forms for my dodgy joints but found they had much too much give in them - tried these Compositi Reflex and wow, superb difference! Not found any better yet and definitely good value. Would like to see a safety version but no issues with grip so far.

The 6.5cm wide tread depth and the slight shock absorbing swivel of the food bed of these stirrups has made a huge difference to my foot and ankle comfort after only two rides. Since I came back into riding after a 20yr hiatus, I regularly suffer pain in the balls of my feet, collapsing ankles in canter and cramp in my sacroiliac joint when transitioning from canter to trot. However, after a lot of research and noting the good recommendations, I decided to try these wider tread stirrups first, before spending mega bucks, just to see if they made any difference. I’ve ridden twice in them on longer and more active rides than usual (multiple canters during 2.5 - 3.5hr rides) during which my foot felt far more supported and secure and I was thrilled to not experience any of the usual problems. I think I’ll stick with these and the bonus is that I can buy different colour treads separately.
