Secrets From A Stargazer's Notebook

Good Book
This book pretty much caused me to be consumed by the study of astrology. When I started reading it I was doubtful. I have made a number of bad decisions in my life and was looking for some kind of mechanism to make wiser decisions with regard to my career, money, and buying another home. I immediately had a free natal chart done and was somewhat surprised at the accuracy, but I still didn't have the pressing answer I needed (how to find career satisfaction), but I was excited enough about what I found that I had my nephew's chart done. This made a true 100% never turning back believer out of me. I was so shocked by the accuracy that it frightened me.I am raising my nephew because he does not have a good relationship with his mother. She has some issues in her life that out of respect I won't get into here, but based on the void of course moon chart the author included in the book I determined that my nephew is a void of course child. He's had a very difficult life and the difficulties began when he was only weeks old. There is a short chapter in the book about VOC children and it specifically says these children may have an absentee mother among other maternal issues. These maternal issues are so precise as they relate to my sister and my nephew that it cannot be coincidental. Furthermore, my nephew totally believes that he has control over his own life (his successes and such). By age 12 he was adamant that he did not believe in God and that everything is up to him. The right side of his chart is pretty much blank. All planets are on the left side of his chart. According to Secrets From a Stargazer's Notebook when one has most planets on the left side, he believes his life is in his own hands rather than fate.My younger sister (not my nephew's mom) is like our mother in that she is very religious and believes there is something else controlling our destinies. Most of her planets are on the right. My planets are pretty scattered. Spiritually I'm all over the place. I want to believe I have control over my life, but I always go back to destiny. For days I have been searching and searching for more, more, more about astrology. I am a true believer thanks to this book. I only wish that more people would provide more detailed info about their experiences as there are hundreds of thousands of astrology books out there and it would make it much easier to discern which ones to purchase. I am reading this book for a second time and looking for astrology courses to take online. I HIGHLY recommend this book. I truly believe I could have had a much better, more successful life if only I had discovered it when I was in my twenties and planning my adult life and career.I only gave the book four stars because although it is an excellent book obviously written by an intelligent and skilled astrologer I would have preferred it to be longer. I think there are some things she could have gone into more detail about such as the astrological houses and how they really affect our lives. This is already a thick book. She could have written maybe a part two or a second volume, but it never fails--when you find a great author you only desire more and sometimes there just isn't more.

Astrology book full of knowledge
This is an excellent astrology book just full of information. I took one star off for the authors silly delivery method which is reflected in some reviews. However, the book is still totally worth a read and you will be unable to put it down. Highly recommended.

Help! I can't stop buying this book !
I felt silly coming back to Amazon to purchase yet another copy of Debbie Kempton Smith's wonderful, witty and oh so accurate Secret's from a Stargazer's Notebook. This will be my fifth or sixth copy! I am a serious student and proponent of astrology and whenever I meet anyone with an interest I "lend" my best book. Of course, I always have my personal copy (ok, my two personal copies) on hand at all times. Needless to say, I never get the lent copies back. I don't begrudge the borrowers and feel priviledged to share with them this outstanding book. A quick look at the other feedback shows that I'm not the only die-hard loyal Stargazer fan! We use it, we love it, we share it and we buy it over and over again!! Thank you Debbie for this contemporary classic astrological work!

Read It!
Very good for beginners like myself! The interpretation is left open to the reader in most cases, which makes it challenging, but it is a blast to read. The style in which Debbi writes has a sassy and comical tone. This makes it easier to read, and cracked me up on many occasions. The only problem I have is that about half the book includes charts to find what planets are where when you were born (if you don't have a computer chart). I have my natal chart, so I was a little sad at the actual reading length. It did teach me a lot that I didn't know and I would recommend any 1-3rd year astrology student to read. :)

Cynical & Roasty
Very opinionated, sarcastic, cynical take on astrology: great if you already know the craft professionally and want to chuckle/laugh and refresh your pool of knowledge but wouldn’t recommend this for beginners/newcomers who are looking to explore astrology healthily. The biases are just too much/very basic to be taken seriously and get too mixed with the valuable information (neurodivergent persons might find this annoying or confusing). Too many outdated United States American pop-culture celebrity chart citations about people no one should care about (typical of her Pluto in Leo boomer generation). Stick to Liz Greene or Forrest instead.

Bought it in 1988
I bought this book in 1988 and it is also a reference book. Naturally it was falling apart, so I replaced my book with this latest Secrets from a Stargazers Notebook. Debbie Kempton Smith is so funny, it makes learning astrology easy. Highly recommended.

Best book on Astrology I've picked up in 40 years of studying the subject
This book is entertaining to read and gets the idea of how to use astrology across in the best way possible.Concentrates on the feel of the planets and signs, amd shows you how to combine them to read a horoscope. This book is a requirement for budding astrologers to read. The other books are all scientific in nature, this one shows you how to get your mind round the art side of the subject. Will still need the boring books for the details of what the aspects mean traditionally, but with this book in hand you will soon look like a master astrologer.Plus the moon tables and Mercury retrograde tables are so useful. Also talks a lot about Chiron and introduced it to me along with some other asteroids.I think I've got my point across of how useful this book could be.

Secrets from a Stargazer's Notebook
The general tone of the book is unnecessarily "come for a giggling stroll". Readers/Astrologers are addressed to as though they were little, naives children who ought to be taken by the hand and played around in oh-so.-funny circle.I had bought it allured by some reference to Chiron I had read on a forum. In fact, just few scrap words about Chiron itself, too much reference to Zeine Stein's commercial website. In substance nothing, I went through some other chapters but the feeling was not positive. In fact, more than like a child, I felt I was treated like an idiot. No, I did not like this book. Thank you for asking.

a must have for anyone interested in astrology.
This book makes astute observations on various astrological features and does it in often hilarious ways. Great insights conveyed with a lot of humour.
