Herb Alpert - Jazz Play-Along Volume 164 (Bk/Online Audio) (Jazz Play-Along, 164)

The sheet music was a little above my skill level, but I camnot fault this purchase because of that. Many years ago I bought several "music minus one" and the music seemed easier to read I also have a tendency to play by ear and sometimes dont follow the written that closely. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone who is skilled in reading music. You really do feel like you are part of the band. Something I missed when I left high school and had been in band, orchestra, dance band, trumpet trio, pep band.

The arrangements in this book are PERFECT!! The very closely replicate the original arrangements and lots of fun to play. I used a couple of these songs in a recent combo gig...and they were well accepted. It's good to remember some of the cool music that took place in the late 60's...I remember how "fresh" and "different" the songs of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass...and The Carpenters were! Fun to bring back those memories with these easy to play and well done backing tracks!

Another wonderful addition to Hal Leonard's Book/CD collection. It's a must have for either playing gigs or to use as a teaching tool for intermediate students. I never tire of playing along with this collection, and, it's in a style completely different from all the other CD's. A "must have" book/CD.

If classic old school brass is your thing, this one is for you. Not necessarily a beginners book, but has a lot of examples of good techniques that you can hear and mimic. My son and I both enjoy this play along Herb Alpert book.

Good music

A gift to my trumpet playing grandson to introduce him to Herb Alpert and the music of my era. I believe he will use it and enjoy.

LOVE this book, great songs, many of which are still be played on the radio and many that made his name well known. Played it through on the first day!

This is a great sounding recording. You should have a lot of fun with these Latin beats.
