Sony RM-AV2500 Fully Editable Universal Remote Control with Touch-Key LCD Screen (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

The remote itself is a good one, but the one shown in the picture is the AV-2500, which is what I expected. The AV-2100 is not shown.

I had the remote up and running in just a few minutes using the instruction book that comes with the product. I was able to find codes for the TV and DVD/VCR combo I was using without any problem. The only downside is that the buttons at the bottom are already pre-labeled and may not necessarily correspond to what you program that button for and anytime you touch the screen the backlight comes on and you have to then hit the off button on the remote to conserve the batteries.

Locked to sony only. Seller basically had a tough luck it worked for me attitude but told me to find instructions on the net he is not going too teach programmi g. Sony customer support 3rd teir gave up and bought the peice of crap back. Said it was defective and should not have been sold. Nice going ace. Im going too be your nightmare.

I've had my remote for two months now, and I'm completely satisfied. Yes, it's big and bulky, yes the manual is huge, and yes, it's a little complicated to set up but if you READ the instructions and follow the steps carefully you'll have very few if any problems. I found that by setting up one remote at a time ( I have 4 currently ) and testing each result that the process goes fairly smoothly. Even my wife who is definitely not a techie loves it, and that in itself vindicates the cost.

The main issue I have with this remote is the programming for the DVR. I usually end up turning the DVR off when I'm trying to fast forward through a recorded program--this is beyond frustrating. I probably would go for a more narrow remote, this one is a little bulky--but hindsight is 20/20.

Best remote I've ever seen or used. A bit complex to program, but provides more ease and flexibilty of control for numerous components. Had one for 5 years but screen cracked. Bought replacement and transferred a lot of custom programmed data in a few easy steps.

I bought this remote in hopes of ridding myself of the four remotes it takes to operate my a/v system. However until I opened it and began trying to program it, I didn't realize it doesn't work with any of my equipment. I have a Phillips 55" Widescreen television, and it would not change the video inputs, or the screen setup, i.e. widescreen, panaramic, 4:3.I have a Sony reciever and a Sony DVD/VCR combo, and after speaking with someone from Sony who had a very slight hold at best of the English language, I was told that I could not program this remote to operate either system. It's kind of ironic that Sony bills this as such a wonderful universal remote, and it won't even operate their own equipment. I also have a Motorola cable DV-R box that couldn't be operated with this controller as well. Please do yourself a favor this holiday season, order something else.

This remote is exactly what I had been looking for. The preprogrammed codes worked perfectly for my Samsung Projection HDTV, LG DVD Player and Kenwood A/V Receiver. I just had to manually program my Motorola satellite receiver, which was really easy. It even works pretty fine with my GE air conditioner. As for the display, it's almost unreadable with the backlight off, but just turn it on and you're ready to go. I would definitely recommend it.
