Great Padlock But Be Sure You Know if It Will Fit
Great lock, Extremely sturdy but unfortunately I would not use it. The shackle or the top part of the lock was not exposed enough to fit into the locking mechanism of my storage unit. Had to purchase a different model but saved it for the moving pod where my household good were going to be transported to my new out of state location. Guess what? Again, the lock shackle did not fit the locking configuration for the pod. So I ended up with a very sturdy padlock that I was never able to use. Not the fault of the manufacturer as this is a great padlock. Just a word of caution that the limited space of the shackle might not conform with what you are trying to secure.

Seizes up if exposed to mild weather
I have four of these locks. Two are used indoors, two outdoors. The outdoor locks are on galvanized/plated hasps in locations that are exposed to mild weather (protected from direct overhead precipitation, but sometimes wind blows rain/snow on them). The two locks used outdoors show quite a bit of corrosion between the galvanized hasps and the lock shackles. I'm not sure what Abus plates the shackle with but it does not appear to be compatible with the plating either on Master brand high security hasps or on the generic hasp used on my local storage facility's lockers. I've been keeping an eye on the corrosion but it didn't seem to impact the function of the lock in any way so haven't worried. Today I arrived at my storage locker to discover that the lock would not open when set to the combination. The shackle moves back and forth as normal when pushed in slightly - just as one would ordinarily to open the lock - but does not open. None of the usual tricks (sharp blow with a lightweight hammer or tool; spraying lubricant into the lock; setting each digit to 1 off the proper combination) worked - it was well and truly stuck. Time for the angle grinder. Something inside this lock must have the same kind of bad plating / corrosion issues as the shackle obviously does. This is very unfortunate as a lock with a heavy shackle, shackle guard etc. like this one can be a huge nuisance to remove if it gets stuck shut. I would expect better from Abus - this is literally the first Abus product that has ever let me down. Do not use this lock for outdoor applications.

This brand is problbly the best and only lock that you need to buy! .
This is a heavy, well made lock! A different design from what you will see in the local hardware store. First thing to know is that this lock can not be picked by any expert in the USA. It is unpickable! Why? It has a series of wheels that must be turned to a number combination.(What I call a combination lock) It has 4 series of rotary wheels that must be set to your favorite (lucky) numvers to open the lock. I Think that I read read that the possible combinatons are around 20,000. So, the chances of this lock to be opened by the correct #'s is very, very slim. It has a method to change the combination. The directions listed on the sales aids are incomplete for security. The enclosed instructions must be followed very closely. However, even the best lock can be cut off with a cutting torch. This is by far the best lock that you can buy!! Post scrip---ABUS has several locks to choose from. Be careful to pick one that will fit your hasp hole diameter and other dimenstions as for the lock body width/height. I cannot tell all the secrets for this lock--you must read the enclosed directions . PS.....I repeat--- this must be the best lock on the market!

Incredibly beefy combination lock.
This this is a very sturdy lock, and locks up a shed, it is the most robust part on the shed. I would caution anyone looking at this to make sure that their application has enough space for the very thick shackle. What I’m using it on is robust and designed for a beefy lock and it just barely is large enough to accommodate. Also, the size of the shielding around the lock makes the lock not sit flat against The building. I don't mind it being tilted up at a 45° angle, but I could see some situations in which it wouldn’t work. If you’re going to use this on a bike, make sure that you have a sturdy enough chain to mount it to if you put this on a traditional chain, you’re not doing yourself any favors as it’s easier to just cut the chain than it is to cut this lock

Avoid
Solid lock so far Accidentally dropped it and it fully reset and won’t lock again- trying to fix currently Can’t get ahold of support, lock won’t lock again. Ordered a new lock to use the new key and did the whole reset process and it’s not working. Pretty bummed as this is fairly pricey Edit: now my second lock is broken, and it randomly changed combinations overnight haha. It takes some force to smack it to get it to lock in place.. will not be buying a third time

All show and no go
This lock started off strong and working properly. At first my only gripes were that the combination was difficult to manipulate and the requirement to push the shackle deep made it difficult to use a heavy gauge chain. About a month ago it became incredibly difficult to open and close the shackle so I hit it with some WD-40 which helped a little. The relief has been temporary but I tolerated it due to the perceived strength of the lock. That all changed yesterday. After less than a year of service, the lock slipped out of my hands, again, fighting to push the shackle in place. It hit the concrete and the shackle guard cracked open. If you look at the pictures you can see the inner material, which looks nothing like solid steel. I'm not sure exactly what this is made of but I expect more out of a $50+ lock. Abus needs to be reminded that they are not in the business of locks, they are in the business of piece of mind. Since I have no confidence in the quality of the product. It is useless to me and I do not recommend it to anyone who wants a heavy gauge lock and the peace of mind that comes with.

I got this lock on Amazon warehouse deals and it turned out that someone changed default combination before it got to me, so it wouldn't open. Because of that, I tried several common attacks to see if it would open, including feeling for any binding in the wheels/shackle, a bypass attack as well as a typical brute force (try each combination) individually. I'm no expert at all when it comes to these but I have been successful with each of these in other locks I own as I like to keep my professional security skills well-rounded ;-) Bypass attack (the easiest way to open combination locks) didn't work because the number wheels are well-fitted and tolerances are great. I also couldn't really make enough progress with guessing or brute force methods because you need to press down on the shackle and then pull to see if the locking pawls retract vs applying pressure directly on the locking mechanism. Ultimately, a good keyed lock like Abus 20/70 or 20/80 is much more secure but this will definitely thwart unskilled attacks. The lock itself is also heavy duty with a beefy shroud so physical attacks will be also be difficult without the use of power tools. Basically, most thieves will likely move on to easier targets unless you have something they really want.

El candado es excelente, es más pesado que los candados tradicionales del mismo tamaño pero es de alta calidad y de un nivel de seguridad 8.

Im amazed some people who buy a cheap lock for their expensive items they are trying to protect,so many videos on youtube showing how easy to pick or cut these locks.Well the Abus may not be perfect but the combo lock with the protective collar and high grade materials makes it lot more difficult to break into your valuable items your storing. This lock screams quality from the heavy weight and the protective ring and collar.Add into the mix of a tumbler lock this is a amazing padlock.Easy to readjust the combinations with the provided key and this lock is has to be one of the best locks for the price range.

If this lock actually worked, it would have been the lock I needed, sure the numbers could be larger and more visible but at first glance it appears to be the strong lock I need but if it only worked. You can spin through many or all the possible combinations until it finally opens but when you lock this lock again it sets itself to a random combination leaving you to go through the hours and hours and hours of spinning through combinations trying to find the elusive combination and this continues even if once opened, you attempt to use the key and reset a new combination for when you remove the key and relock the lock it once again sets itself to a random combination different from the combination which was chosen as the new combination. If all this is not bad enough, the lock dials are getting very hard to turn and I believe they will eventually very soon be nearly impossible to turn even if oiled. This lock will be returned if I can do so and from the reviews I have seen left for this lock I will not accept a replacement as I have very strong reason to believe that the replacement lock will have a very high likelihood of being no better then this one and it will need to be returned also, IS THIS BECOMING THE QUALITY OF MERCHANDISE SOLD ON THE AMAZON WEBSITE???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
